AW: My Films 5 - AMC Updater

This is something like a feature request and i want to if something like that is possible.

I'm running frequent automatic AMCUpdater tasks. All my movies are on a server. When i delete a movie on the server i like to remove the file from the db too (orphaned files). But IF now th whole path / server is not available amcupdater removes ALL entries from file ;-(

Any idea how to solve this? Or would an option be possible like delete orphaned entries if path is available...

    Thx!

    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
yes, that should be possible. Should be an option, as otherwise entries could never be removed, if a path doesn't come back (e.g. USB drive that never get's reconnected).
Please add an issue to the tracker.

Is there any possibilty to change AMCU default Settings.xml location ?
I mean that I would like to use a deafult settings.xml from a network share for all of my clients.
In MyFilms.xml now I can see this setting
    <entry name="AMCUpd_cnf">X:\MePo\MyFilms\MePo_AMCUpdater_Settings.xml</entry>
but AMCU always start with the xml from the ProgramData folder.

AMCUpd_cnf entry is for the Scheduler only ?

To use any given config file for AMCupdater, you can just use it on the command line, e.g.
    AMCupdater.exe \\server\dir\myamcusettings.xml LogDirectory GUI
You can create a desktop icon and add the command line parameters there.

The button in MyFilms setup always launches the corresponding config from MePo data directory that belongs to the config in myfilms.

If I want to use the AMCUpdater outside from MePo I can use this command line parameter,
but I think inside MePo with the "Global Updates" -> "Import/Update All Movies" it won't work.

Maybe there should be an entry in the MyFilms.xml for the default location of the AMCU settings xml. The centralized AMCU config file would be useful if somebody has more clients.

    That is true, yes.

We could add the ability to run "custom" configs in a future version - if that happens, then it would also make sense to offer a selection of possible AMCupdater configs, inlcuding "update runs" - so user can not only do the global import, but also e.g. run an update on rating etc.
That would require not only the addition of those options to MyFilms setup (and GUI), but also to AMCupdater itself.
There is not yet an entry an the issue tracker, but I remember other asking for something similar.

    That is true, yes.
In this case, a new shortcut with parametrized command line is pointless to me.
Sometimes I'd like to run AMCU from MePo, so I have to copy the AMCU config file from one client to the others if I make any changes.

That would be a very very useful solution, but I think there should be an optional default config also.

Please create two issues in google tracker - the first one I can add easily, as it does not require changes in AMCupdater, so will add that for next version. Second one requires more changes and a concept first.

The first (easy) issue would be the possibility to set the location and name of the default AMCU config xml file, which will be used from AMCU and MePo,
and the second (harder) issue would be the possibility to run custom configs from the MePo interface ?
