Please - post logs and config, as already mentioned before - see wiki page for support. If that is too difficult, I would recommend NOT using the test versions.

Is there anything I should know about the jump in version numbering from 5.2 to 6.0 or am I fine to just use the latest?

We recently decided to publish next version as "6.0" instead of "5.2" - due to several reasons - a lot of new features introduced, skin change required, etc. - so major version should make that clearer to anybody involved.
So "latest versions" (dev versions) will identify themselves with "V6.0"...

I created a new test version with changes in the internal locking handling (stuff to protect cuncurrent access) - can you please repeat your tests and post results?

Cool, makes sense I just wanted to check v6 wasn't some special test version that I should be careful with

MyFilms 6 isn't yet released - and although it should be feature complete, there is still internal changes being done - so the only skin supported is of course the default skin, that is supplied with the test versions. However, some skins have V6 skins "in progress", like aMPed, Avalon, BG, etc. - but those won't be published before MyFilms 6.0 is public.
Again - those releases are test versions, not intended for "normal use" yet. They should be used by users interested in helping to test, find bugs and solve them - and that testing usually has to be done with the provided default skins for reason mentioned above.
I wouldn't recommend to use V6.0 before at least a beta version is available to public, if you don't want to "test" - even better waiting for stable release...

No, I don't ;-) - will be "when it is ready" .... depends on how much time ppl involved can spend in their free timne to get all things done and prepared ...
