Hi

I have been using mediaportal for a while now, and have it set up as good as I can at the moment

I thought I'd join the forum to learn more, get help and help others the best I can too:)

I am just not sure how to interpret that. Sounds to me like you'll be back for some questions on tweaking it, and getting MP configured how you want and not just as good as you can. :D

Welcome to the forums. Hopefully you'll find it as useful as I have.

The reason I was thinking I needed more RAM is that TV now seems to be HiDef and so the files have grown. I edit the files before storing them, to reduce some size. It is finding that slower, I think. Or it could just be because I'm expecting more? The Baseboard manufacturer says ASUSTech Computer Inc; Baseboard product P7P55D-E...

4.5 is really old. I'm not sure 4.5.5 even is a version that actually existed. You should be able to install .NET Framework 4.8.0 on Windows 7 SP1

I meant use MP client to try to spot how it's requesting streams for specific channels and then try to do the same with VLC. TV Server development looks dead so I'm afraid you're going to have to figure that out by yourself if it's even possible.

I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback. Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)
