Wow, Luv2Entertain found the link I mentioned in the IRC chat about how the optimal browsing would look like:

Without rating and stuff this should be possible to squeeze on 720 lines..

rtv - This system shown has a problem. See it? The word "The" is a search word - it shouldn't be! Neither should "A" at the beginning of a song title or artist name.

I think this search method should be a standard. Just my 2 cents.

I think rtv refers more to the layout. And as a notorious mouse user, I´d really like this alpha (letter)-buttons because this would give me a one click navigation.

I do agree with the format (three-column format which simultaneously displays the artist, albums, and songs). I was just pointing a glaring problem we didn't need to be reproduced in MP. This layout would be nice as a touch screen version also!

The leading "the" and "a" was definitely a major problem with Meedio. The SQL filter's weren't geared towards correcting it.

It could be overcome by setting up the ID3 tags correctly and changing the sorting based on that and then display the name with the "the" and "a".

So it all depended on how your media was set up not the plugin.

I made some changes to the music database some time ago (see artist table strSortName) that allow for sortable names that ignore "the", "a", etc prefixes. "The Who", for example, would be sorted as "Who, The". While not currently in use, you should see it at some point in the near future.

    rtv,

Is that just a dream mock-up, or is it actually getting worked on? The three columns would be amazing.
