Just a quick question for people out there using version 1.4.1
Are you getting a lot of errors causing the TvServer to crash?
If not I'll hold off until the next major build is ready but if a few people are having issues I might do a minor build. I recently updated the SVN with a lot of changes which should make StreamTv a solid plugin but I'd like to do a few more things before the next update.
Anyway just some feedback on how the latest build holds up would be helpful.
Experimenting with alternaive (unsupported?) mencoder settings made tvservice crash. Have not had the chance to test for more than 30 min. Both the .m2ts and the .mpeg worked ok on lan.
Over internet, the .mpeg did not prove successful. I would see a few seconds of image and sound and then just freeze. Starting up on lan i would see the same behaviour but just as a small freeze, continuing right away.
The bandwith isn't a problem (tested mpeg2 video bitrate down to 1mbps with same result). StreamTV1 and VLC gave me a relatively stable stream with a total audio and video bitrate of about 3mbps over the internet. Best way to achieve this was with a transport stream container.
Is there or could there be a way to use VLC instead of mencoder? I have not been able to get the old StreamTV to work with the Beta1 release of MP 1.1.0
This is running in XP MCE SP3 on an Inter Core 2 (6400) with 2GB ram, Cinergy HTC USB dvb-c tv-card.
Thanx. I'll try it out today.
Any chance of using VLC instead of mencoder? I think I've figured out where the VLC parameters must go. But how can VLC be started? Do I have to copy some of the VLC files to the StreamTV2 folder or can I just put in the path to vlc.exe?
In the next major version I plan to add a config file for setting up encoders (one of the last big features I want to add before its release), when that is done you will be able to use VLC (hopefully).
Anyway if this build holds up it will mean I have a stable base to work off .
