MY Videos rework for MP 1.3.0 (2 Viewers)

Hi Deda,

I did a complete reinstall and created a small video DB from scratch but still no actor images generated in the GUI and manually added images (using MP Configuration) are still being deleted???

I've created pictures showing what happens step by step using "James Cameron" as the example. Would the mediaportal log show you anything useful? The only lines I can see relating to the video DB are as follows;-

You can't get anything better - hardware or software right now, and it's not compatible with mediaportal.

Hmm, just looked for madvr in internet and found these interesting info:
known problems / limitations:

- DVD playback with navigation/menu currently only works in XP, but not in newer OSs
- hardware accelerated video decoding (DXVA) is currently not supported
- no manual color controls (brightness, contrast, saturation, hue)
- media player screenshot functionality not supported yet

Is this still correct? Seems to me to not being a good choice.

You can't have the best renderer without a few drawbacks.
Anyway none of them are important to me, i don't use it for playing dvd, i don't take screenshot, i use a nvidia card and my color settings are perfectly tweaked and if really want to change something, i will use filters on postprocessing.

Hi, i see your rework who allow to use external player only for some extention of files.
I have a suggestion that seems relevant here if you have some spare time :

In Mediaportal, the option to use external player is kinda minimalist.
In XBMC, there is a nice feature using an xml file called playercorefactory.xml who allow to use internal or multiples external players depending of a range of options & rules set by the users.

For exemple :
- Use MPC-HD player with all Madvr stuff for SD content
- Use an alternative player or config for x264 10 bit content
- Use internal player for files in the "Internal" Folder

And on my computer i do a symbolic link to duplicate data on my "Internal" folder in order to allow me to choose when i'm using xbmc for each video, if i want to play them with internal or external.
(I would love this option -choose to use internal or external player- direclty in mediaportal too but it's probably too much work)

The xml file looks like this :

In my case, i prefer using an external player for the SD content, using Madvr and stuff.
For HD content, internal is fine.
I need some special config/player for x264 Hi-10p videos.
And finaly, if my girlfriend wants to use mediaportal, i prefer that's all content she play is with the internal player (easier to use).

PS : Sorry, for my bad english.

Even if this is good idea, it's hardly to be implemented by me here. External player managing is not dedicated part of MyVideos plugin and these changes will affect core part of MP which needs opinion from higher lvls of MP Team.

I'm not saying that this not possible, but this feature should be created and test separately.

Ok, before we take extreme measures can you do something.

Reset database.

Start MP. Scan one movie (where is well know actor). See cast list and click on that actor if image will be visible in his Info screen.

If it's not there, go in config on that actor details and click Refresh actor (do not add image yourself).

If thumb is not visible. Stop and tell me here.

If is visible, quit config and start MP and try to click on that actor if thumb is visible in his info screen. If not tell me here .

I just installed from 2nd post. I installed after renaming MP folders to MediaPortal_1.2.3 the machine i installed on is a client machine so i only installed MP, when i went to MP configure there is no TV section even though while installing it showed the TV plugin was installed. Is this normal as this build is for testing.

TV should work but you need to configure it from scratch from TVServer config. But if you use TV on that machine better avoid that because you could delete your working TV database.
