    Hi!

I've read that the new MythTV 0.23 will nativly support Blue-Ray discs. Until now i thought this isn't possible due to the copyprotectionstuf. Will this also be possible for MP then?

I have no clue how they are planning to do it, but to legally be able to play Blu-ray disk you need to obtain a licensed keys to decrypt the content. And such keys cannot be made available for parties that share their code (and the key as well).

Also implementing the Java based menu system for Blu-rays is something that requires quite big work effort (with no documentation available unless you write NDAs and pay lot of money).

Playback itself is not an issue at all. I have been playing with some test code already over a year ago. Non-seamless branching blu-ray was played nicely with modified TsReader & DVB subtitle decoder inside MediaPortal with DXVA enabled. I just didn't want to venture any further because of those two things: Java based menus and the copy protection sh*t from movie studios.

Yes that was also what i know and what i thought. But MythTV 0.23 is already released today so they aren't planning to do this. They already have it done :)

    Release Notes - 0.23 - MythTV

Nothing on release note about Blu-ray. Maybe it is such a small feature that it is not worth mentioning :) Or maybe it is for the 0.24.

Work towards MythTV 0.24 is in full swing, and has be progressing very well for the last several months. If all goes according to plan, MythTV 0.24 will bring a new MythUI OSD, a nearly rewritten audio subsystem capable of handling 24 and 32 bit audio as well as up to 8 channels of output, Blu-ray disc and disc structure playback, and various other performance, usability, and flexibility improvements.

    So, it is for 0.24.

Well you could enable MP to playback unprotected bluray disks and we could use AnyDVD HD to sort the encryption etc then technically you would not be doing anything wrong:cool:

yes that is indeed what I did in that ticket. It may already be working without updating those plugins because most of it was not relevant to the plugin itself (test, some leftover unused parts etc).

I do not know why this xml was in my theme folders, it must have sneaked in some time ago (years?). I simply removed the file. The Latest Media Handler plugin seems to be working as expected. I've had no lock-ups.
