Hi ivanjong,

You don't have to install any speech recognition engine on Vista, although you may want to install additional language interpreters. I'm assuming you're using one of the english versions.

Did you install the XP version of myVoice on your Vista machine? Make sure you uninstall it first before installing the Vista version (especially the various DLL's).

Also, make sure you have put the myVoice folder from the zip's ProgramData folder into your MediaPortal Program Data folder.
You can get to it via:
Start->Team Mediaportal->User Files

oh ok i will try it again later. i tried to install the xp speech engine but it doens't work in vista. i have put the program data into the media portal program data. i can now see the phrases & theme but still the speech engine doesnt response when i say computer. instead i need to say start listening but the commands still doesnt work. The speech engine 8.0 have and extra program tat runs on screen and i cant seem to hide it like the speech engine in xp. i will try again when i get home later. thanks for the help

Aha, part of your problem is that you have the speech engine turned on. In Vista, you should turn off the speech engine. This way, it won't listen all the time, but the voice plugin can still tap into the engine.

@b, I still haven't got it to work on my setup, but reading one of your recent posts, I think it's because I have some old speech engine stuff still in my system. I think I need to do a big clean up to make sure old XP dlls and stuff are not still in my MP directory.

I forgot all about sending you my music database too, sorry, will do that shortly...

well i still cant get it to run on my system after reinstalling everything and turn off the speech engine like wat marcusb adviced me to. any log i can post to help u to troubleshoot the problem ? it just doesnt seem to respond to the +Computer word. i already trained the speech engine.

Hi ivanjong,

The log file can be found by going to Start->Team MediaPortal->MediaPortal->User Files, and then opening the log folder. You should see a myVoice.log in there.
Also, if you haven't done so already, make sure you turn on the process plugin for myVoice.

Set up tips

This plugin sounds really fun.
I have MP (1.0 no SVN) installed and running on my XP SP3 PC / C2Duo / 4GB ram.

Questions
1. The link on the first post for the MSFT speach engine 5.1 is dead. Should I try to find/install 5.1 or 6.1?
2. Can my HW set up handle it?
3. I have 3 users in my house. All with different voices. Will it work for all 3 of us or just 1? Any tips on the training for 3 users.

To the DEV of this plugin, please go to the link below and fill out the form to put this plugin in the master plugin list. I hope this takes off and becomes very useful to ALL users of MP. Just copy and paste the fileds from the first post to fill out into your post, and fill them out. then anytime there is an update to your plugin, please update that post in that topic as well. I think this will stop a lot of the posts like "where do I find..." or "how do i..." because there will be a single location (hopefully eventually stickied) for people to look to find plugin info. It is short and sweet.

Aaah too bad, Thank for all your effort, I had a fun time while playing with your plugin. If you ever change your mind I will help testing for 1 hour/a week(two xp machines).

One question, is the 0.2.3.0 RC3 version compatible with the 1.0 release of mp? Guess not and im afraid to test but would like to know.
