Hi folks,

I'm currently installing a couple of mediaportal clients which will access movies & music from the server. Is there any way to have each client use the fanart on the server, or does each client have to download it's own fanart?

I'm pretty sure you can get Moving Pictures to grab the fanatic from your network instead of the internet but it will still store a copy locally on the client.

At least this is what I remember, might all be different now....

    Hi.
You can change location to store fanart with a hack. Better is to use local fanart and .nfo stored together with your movies. So you only need to download and import them once... You may have a look at MovPicNfo, it's to find in this forum...

Use UNC network share paths for all the movie/tv/video/picture/music folders (even on the server side)
    Then install MP on client
after installation just copy the MP appdata and MP program files directory from the server and overwrite the ones on the client
Then you will have everything pre setup with no configuration and no scraping/DLing of fanart

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ? MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback. If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo. I have...

I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback. Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)
