angusmann kindly sent me a trial version which downloads the actors/directors and includes this data to the xml file for MP. Unfortunately, Frodo's xmltv plugin for MP TV Server does not display this extra information.
However, by using bigkev's EPG Downloader for TV Service and pointing that program to the xml file output by angusmann's program, it is possible to have the extra data displayed within the MP TV EPG.
Steve

Just received a PM from angusmann:

"The update is now official, and those with auto-update will automatically get the version tested by you.

Thanks for that,
Angus"

NB.: I also asked him to remove the hyphen from program titles where no subtitle is available.

The program has access to more data than is displayed.
It has country of origin, year produced, actors, and detailed rating info to name a few.

I don't use MediaPortal and so I don't have a good idea of exactly what data it is capable of displaying.

It's easy to put the additional data into the XML but I need to know the exact format required.

If you can pm me an extract of Big Kev's XML that shows how the additional data is formatted and labeled I'll add it in.

Hello,
just started using this - so far very happy with the data and relatively simple setup however I don't seem to be getting information on actors. I had previously been using BigKevs EPG Downloader for TV Service, which had a button to select for Actors and Directors. Is there a similar setting for this program?

If this is still a problem, PM me with some more info and I will look into it. The original report looks like a firewall problem, but your subsequent edit and addition to the post confuses me. What do you mean by "Got past the 76% ?" "I don't wanna be like this ?" "what I need to define ?" What on Earth are you trying to say?

hey all,

i have been running this EPG since May with no problems however just recently I have noticed that 9HD, Go! and a few other channels have no data available and also there seems to be some schedule issues (one recently that springs to mind was the Grand Am RRolex series on One HD, my MP shows it starting at 21:30-12:30, however in reality it started at 23:00). Its not a major concern but im just checking in to see if its just me or a general known problem.

cheers

If you find the occasional program starts/stops at a different time than the schedule predicts, the error comes from the guide data source, not GuideDigger. Remember, all GuideDigger does is collect the information and format it correctly...if the information is faulty there is no way for the program to know. Sometimes, TV stations make last-minute changes and (rarely) they update their guide data to match. The problem is, if GD has already downloaded the initial information, and it then changes, GD has no way to know about the change unless it downloads every bit of information all over again. This would make it run very slowly, and use up more of your internet download limit than most people would tolerate. The same applies with the occasional gap in the guide data.

I've thought long and hard about this, and I cannot think of any way to avoid the issues above that does not cause the program to run very slowly and use up a heck of a lot of internet bandwidth.

avg grrrrrh!

Angusmann,

I have reinstalled MP and 4tR and MPstreamed....

And then tried to get the guidedigger working again with my new AVG...

And it appeas that the SVCHOST service needs more access then allowed by default....

I've added the ALLOW for this n AVG and then when re-running the Grabber, I see it perform the scrape and successful FTP upload.

So its running

Many thanks for your efforts with this great little tool....

HEATH:D
