Does anyone know if the method described here is suposed to work for the type of DVB-T subtitles we have here in Australia?

I guess my question is, does anyone know the type of subtitles we have here? And is that what you are talking about in this thread?

If you have DVB-T, then most likely the filter discussed in this thread will support the subtitles.

The dev blog entry on subtitles tries to explain the different types of subs:

    How to install

    - Make sure that you have installed following update -> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...D9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en

    - If you have installed the DVBSub2.ax filter previously then unregister it

    - Install latest MP SVN version

    - Install latest TVE3 SVN version

    - Add
yes
under
in the MediaPortal.xml (can be found in the MediaPortal directory)

    - Add c:\useTsReader.txt (empty text file is enough)

    Huh?

A simple walk-through explaination of how to install the subtitle plugin would be nice. So far, I don't see what installing a database server (SQL server 2005 express for the TV engine) has anything to do with subtitles?

    Please :D

There is no plugin anymore, just get the latest SVN's and edit the mediaportal.xml file, then create the text file and see what happens.

If it works then great, if it doesn't install the Visual C update and try again (it's not needed in Vista BTW)

If my memory serves right from old chit-chat concerning DVB, Australia has DVB-T subtitles and now also HiDef-streams so that one mux has HD and 480p streams... oh my, would like to have that here in Finland too.

So normal lastest tve3 install with MP rc3 install + svn patch should work OK for you.

Well, the feature is currently in a beta stage, so I don't see any need for creating a tutorial for it especially when after the feature is ready to go out the beta stage there will not be any additional task that the user needs to do to get DVB subtitle support (only to select the subtitles to be enabled).

    :sorry:

Will i still have subtitles from my DVB-T in Denmark, if i install RC3 and the newest SVN update??

    And ofcourse do this too

    - Add
yes
under
in the MediaPortal.xml (can be found in the MediaPortal directory)

    - Add c:\useTsReader.txt (empty text file is enough)

even if do uninstalle everything and starts over
maybe windows has been damages cause of all the removals and installs of SVN and TVE3

Ok, im in to the other way around..... the release im using now, the teletext subs works just great, no complains at all ( hmm, im not in the position to complain though.....).

As the subs (teletext) works so great, and Im an svn addict as much im in to new releases, ive want to upgrade to rc3...but if teletext is disalbled then Ill just hang in there and wait for your new release...if there isent some way to enable telesubs??

After such a nice post I decided to provide a patched TsReader.ax (based on 16264 SVN version) so that you can upgrade to the RC3. Please be aware that there might be other changes soon in the TsReader / tve3 client that might broke the patched binary. Also plase notice that I didn't have time to test the patched .ax file.

    1) install RC3
    2) update tve3 and MP to latest SVN (as close as possible to the 16264)
    3) copy TsReader16264_ttxt.ax over the TsReade in MP folder
    4) hope that all works :)

Good to hear. As there have been already numerous TsReader related bugfixes in SVN I decided to provide a new patched TsReader (please remember to update both MP & TVE3 server) http://day2.no-ip.org/TsReader16375_ttxt.ax

Just wanted to give you guys an update regarding teletext subs.

I managed to solve one of the problems i had, but i am still having problems with two samples that contain serially transmitted teletext packets(vs. 1 working with serial, and 3 working with parallel). The problem is that pages arrive too close together, so that the blank pages almost immediately overwrite the previous page (resulting in subtitles not being shown for long enough usually). I might be able to solve this using some simple minimum separation between subtitles, but i would rather improve the synchronization :)

Howevr, I could use some more samples with teletext, so feel free to upload some! Preferably some where it is easy to judge whether the subtitles are being shown correct (so no voice overs or lots of scene changes, and preferably either audio or text in english or danish/swedish/norwegian). I am hoping for another problematic sample which i can follow more easily .
