definitely, but at $1050 aussie dollars, you can almost buy two EEE BOX - B204

but in all honesty, if my Dell died, then i'd replace it with a Mac Mini, just too sexy :p

Got my EEE Box B204 today :) (Yeah the one with UPS and Bluetooth)
I hoped that it could do Hardware HD (DXVA) decoding, but it's broken :(
I couldn't use the 8.5 drivers, because it's a ATI mobility readon 3450 :( I tried the ATI driver mod tool; but no DXVA.
The original driver from asus (8.55, from dec08) uses DXVA, but all green blocks and stuttering.

For normal playback of XVID and Live TV (SD) it's superb machine, stylish and very quiet.

If someone has an clue to get the "normal" 8.5 driver working with DXVA.... i think the ati modtool breaks the dxva.

I have the B204 too and have the same problem getting HW acceleration to work. I have been working with some of these clips: WMV HD Content Showcase
But with very little results. 720p plays with stuttering picture or sound and as far as I can tell no HW acc.

I have even tried installing both Windows 7 and Vista (both Home Basic and Ultimate) to get DXVA2 but no difference did it make. CPU stays at app. 60 and picture stutters.

I have even seen some stutter in some of my recorded SD material.

Then I got hold of a 720p recording from Australia, I think, and that looked even worse than anything else.

I have noticed that the stuttering is less with bitrates below 7 Mb/s, but Asus promise available bitrates up to 15 Mb/s.

So I am returning the box again one of these days and will start building a new HTPC one of these days.....or maybe I should wait for the B208..... ;-)

    Best regards

Yes i tried (ATI_HD_Reg_Tweaks_0.15.vbs), but no success, im trying now windows vista, but again with ATI modtool, version 8.10.. i'll post my findings here ;)

    UPDATE:
No dxva yet, DXVa checker shows some red lines, thus dxva shouldbe used, but noting going thru the ati :(
    Tried so far:
SAF 3.45 (MPC etc), PowerDVD8, Divx H264 decoder
