    Looks really great. :)
But I would wish "Series" would be a separate data type like "Videos", so that it's more clearly that it should be separated.
For me it's not clear enough how this functionality works and when he does use series and so on.

Furthermore could you say how MP2 finds out if it is a series etc.?

I already thought about a separated share category "Series", let's see how this will work.

The Series are detected by following ways:
    • MP1 TvServer recordings .xml file, when Season/Episode fields are filled (usually by EpisodeScanner)
    • Matroska Tags
    • Filename RegExp parsing.
I plan to make the ruleset for last part configurable using settings.

morpheus: What's the devs position about managing tv series within mp2 anyway?
As discussed in this thread: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/mp-tvseries-for-mediaportal-2.106685/
there are two options - having a separate plugin again or creating an own branch of mp2...
First of all it is very important to understand the MP2 architecture is MUCH more flexible and modular than MP1. When we talk about "Series" here, in terms of MP2 this is only one MetadataAspect.

This metadata can be filled by so called MetadataExtractors (MDE). The list of MDEs can be easily extended by plugins.

Having this flexibility allows plugins also to access the MediaLibrary (ML, database), add or change metadata of media items (here series episodes). If now a GUI plugin like MPTvSeries likes to bring all the nice features in, this is also possible by plugins.

What I like to say, the work I currently do is to build some solid ground for future extensions (with plugins). Maybe some users can already live with the inbuild basic features, others will need more.

When MP1 developers plan to port their plugins, I can offer help in understanding MP2. And if there are more plugin interfaces required, we can discuss and implement this also.

    Hi.
I think such "basic features" are better a part of core MP2 than an extra plugin. ATM it's not too good to be in need to install for at least 4 or 5 extra plugins only to get basic features of a complete Media Center solution (Moving Pictures, TV Series, Online Videos, WorldWeather). With Skins this deficit of MP1 is already corrected as there are three different and good looking skins delivered with MP2 Alpha...

This is important for all newbies. ATM if someone installs MP1 he get a barebone MediaCenter Software with a comic- alike and old fashioned (looks like early 2000th) skin. Lots of those users are lost to XBMC or WMC at this point as both of them are ready to run after installing...

Plugins are great for fine tuning and customizing the HTPC individually, but those plugins nearly everyone need should be installed by default.

Hm.... A decent IMDB-scraper and Spotify-access (a *must*) and MP2 seems feature complete enough for everyday usage.

I'm impressed by both stability and the looks (using Reflexion), so I'm getting more and more excited about MP2.... Wonder when I can consider a switch....
