My htpc is currently busy, so I cannot test this on low-end systems. But I think the animation is not really slower than a static image, because there are only different parameters for brush textures used, while texture itself stays.

Recording was done on my i5 2500k which has no problem to render GUI and record at 60fps@720p resolution

Windows RT 8 wont run MP - as far as I remember it doesn't have DirectShow. And in any case it is completely off topic to talk about XBMC and/or any baked berries in MP2 related thread. Please learn to read the topic first before posting

Just tested the animated version on my HTPC (see system specs), works smooth

to try it, i only have to get your current branch (i guess "ImageBrushAnimator") from git and build it, right?

if i do, server starts correctly, client does also, but i can't go to settings in client, it just refreshes the main menu. all other menu items are working though...

Make sure that you delete all contents of the mp2 bin output folder before recompiling. Probably old plugins cause issues with configuration.
