Hi.
The TV Engine is on a different place if you are using MP2. This is because it runs as a plugin inside the MP2 Server not as a stand-alone service. So you need to look inside the MP2-Server folders if you want to find TVE related stuff.
The main Files of TVE are in:
c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\Plugins\SlimTv.Service3\

And the tuning parameters are in:
c:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\SlimTVCore\

If you want to find the (SQLite) database for TVE, it's in:
c:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\Database\
and it's called "MP2TVE_3.s3db"

What I'm trying to do is to just get a good EPG for ATSC channels here in the US. I'm starting to wonder if the documentation for MP2 is up to date.

Do I need to follow the same procedures, i.e., update www_imdb_com to get this to work?

If there are any more up to date setup instructions it would really be appreciated.

Hi.
I'm living in Germany and I'm watching TV via DVB-S. My EPG is done with XMLTV and WebGrab++. WebGrab++ is independent from the type of TV you have. So I can't help you with your personal setup as I never have seen any ATSC in real live... Same is for most of our devs. Afaik no dev from the US or Canada is working on this project atm. But we have some testers from US. E.g. @breese is living in US. He uses SchedulesDirect for EPG in MP2. Maybe he can help...

I don't know that, sorry.. But in General the whole setup for TV should be the same as for MP1, excerpt for the different installation path and all things that are related to the database. In MP2 you don't need an extra database- server (MySQL or SQLExpress) at all. The DB just is working ootb.

Right at the moment we are working to bring the MP2 Wiki to a new and better platform. Maybe you'll find what you are looking for easier then...

I just have found this thread and only skimmed over the posts.

Right now there is a brand new installer available which fixes known issues with TVE3 and adds a new folder structure for tuning details and EPG grabbers. I recommend to try this build.

My EPG is done with XMLTV and WebGrab++.

I use the same EPG source as Lehmden, so I can't help much with TVE-EPG grabber related questions.

Looked at the test system I used for the Fall 2014 MP2 test release, I see the following folder(s) has WebEPG. This folder has a copy of the US www_imdb_com.xml file. Not sure if this is part of the Summer2015 MP2. Maybe @grepper could see if this is where the files are hiding,

There is/was also a DE folder that has www_tvinfo_de.xml and www_tvtoday_de.xml maybe @morpheus_xx or @Lehmden could see if they work

In the fall2014/MP2 release the following folder that looked like it should have the missing log files, but all the setuptv.log files were "0 length" in this folder
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal Setup TV\log

In MP1, both the main tvservice and setuptv write log files.
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal Setup TV

Confirmed, this was a bug. Logging used a "NullLogger" as default, but I didn't create a real logger when running in SetupTV. Will be fixed in next build!

@RonD, huh. You are right! The files, including www_imdb_com.xml, are located in:

Looks like something odd is going on with Windows search on my system. From Windows Explorer, I have to search twice, the second time specifying search again in "Computer", or do a custom search.

I searched for setuptv.log and found nothing on the C: drive.

So, I guess my next step is to learn what I must do to modify the grabber file. The default one is set up for KTVUDT, no zip code. If I do a Grab Now in SetupTV it instantly says "Finished grabbing" but nothing has happened.

This is probably my problem, as I obviously don't know what I'm doing yet, as the grabber file is not modified and I still have to figure out the next steps.

That being said, @Lehmden said @breeze is in the US and is using SchedulesDirect. I'm wondering if that is the way to go for the US. Looks like I have many hours of research and work to get this going, but I'd prefer not to waste a lot of time going in the wrong direction!

I've got to say, you guys are amazing in how well you support this!

There are a couple setup guides to help with using WebEPG or xmltv for EPG. These are both written for MP1 but basic steps should apply to MP2.

When I tried MP2 last fall I used xmltv since I was already using that option for MP1. For the USA EPG setup is a weak area for both MP1/MP2. The channel names MP1/MP2 find when they scan channels in general does not match the names used by any of the EPG data download options. Auto-matching names typically does not work so the user needs to handle getting the correct mapping between MP1/2 channels and guide channels. The setup guides try to help with the needed steps.

For MP1 there is a SchedulesDirect-plugin, not sure how MP2 handles that option. Its also possible to SchedulesDirect ($25/yr for EPG download) with xmltv using a tool called mc2xml. The recent changes to WMC EPG has also impacted how USA/MP users can download EPG data. I just put a quickie update in the xmltv/mc2xml setup guide about these changes. I'm personally using SD/mc2xml/xmltv and pay $25/yr. In the past I've used/tried most of the other options.

I have used Schedules Direct for a Long time here in Chicagoland. Works very well once you have all the channels configured in Setup TV and you configure the Schedules Direct web site (under your account).

Just recently I have been testing EPG Collector.... I like what I see so far....
