My version:

I still have not made a box for this device:)
In the near future I want to make another similar instance, but with a microcontroller with support for USB.
And small device without display, only for receive the IR (for controll presentations on the notebook without COM-port)

Hi everyone! This is exactly what I was looking for! I have recently been successful in decoding the SONY SIRC codes with a PIC18F4550, I know the microController is overkill. hehe. Ever since I found out that the mediaportal supported plugins, all I can think of was how to interface my TV's remote control to mediaportal. And now, I thank everyone who has contributed to this thread. I'm new to C# so I have some studying to do but once understand the basics I'll be putting together the hardware. My project will be using a PIC18, a SONY remote control and an IR decoder. This is certainly exciting!

the interface file is for the PIC, correct? I'm currently studying C# and I thought making a plugin would help me get familiar with C#. Hehe.

edit: The SONY SIRC uses a different protocol but it is similar to NEC IR.

I can't get the plugin to work. I clicked the "Test" button and it doesn't send anything to my PIC. Where should I install the plugin? plugin\Windows or plugin\process? I also noticed there are XML files included. Where do they go? Thank you!

That's funny. Whenever I open mediaportal configuration, my comport is not available. I still haven't found out which plugin is accessing it.
