Hello,

I am trying to setup my first TV server and I can't seem to get any channels to be found. I have the Ceton 4x tuner and the cable card is installed and registered, and using the ceton program it seems like the channels are all coming in fine... but mediaportal does not seem to find them. I have tried several settings combinations but I don't know what I am doing, and as of yet I have not been able to find a guide specific to ceton/comcast so I am not sure where the problem is at. I have turned CAM on.

Does anyone know what to do, or a guide that I have not been able to find?

Thanks in Advance.

    Hello and welcome Firemogle :)

The most likely cause of this would be a firewall blocking TV Server from receiving your lineup from the tuner.

Do you run third party (ie. non-Microsoft/Windows) security software - firewall, anti-virus/malware/spyware?
Do you have a tuning adaptor/resolver?

It would help if you could post your log files:
    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Click "open log directory" in the top left corner.
    3. Zip up the files you find there.
    4. Post/attach the zip file here.
    Thanks,
    mm

I have the firewall on the box completely off right now.
I am unsure what a tuning adaptor/resolver is, is it the ceton software?

To note when I try to scan digital cable the status is:

out-of-band service information... signal locked, no channels found
    Total radio channels, new=0, updated=0
    Total TV channels, new=0, updated=0
    Scan done!

takes about 3 seconds to do that.
I also attached the logs, thanks for the help :)[DOUBLEPOST=1390784507][/DOUBLEPOST]I am attaching a shot of the ceton program that makes it seem like the tuner is getting everything.

    Thanks again.

If you don't know what a TA is then you probably don't have one. It is something that plugs into the USB port on the tuner.

TV Server is detecting your CableCARD no problem:
    [2014-01-26 14:38:42,064] [Log ] [12 ] [DEBUG] - DRI CC: card status...
    [2014-01-26 14:38:42,098] [Log ] [12 ] [DEBUG] - status = Inserted
    [2014-01-26 14:38:42,102] [Log ] [12 ] [DEBUG] - manufacturer = Motorola
    [2014-01-26 14:38:42,105] [Log ] [12 ] [DEBUG] - version = 1573

However the out-of-band tuner (which is the tuner used to receive channel info) is reported as not locked:
    [2014-01-26 14:42:08,217] [Log ] [45 ] [DEBUG] - DRI CC: check OOB tuner lock...
    [2014-01-26 14:42:08,250] [Log ] [45 ] [DEBUG] - carrier lock = False
    [2014-01-26 14:42:08,252] [Log ] [45 ] [DEBUG] - frequency = 104200 kHz
    [2014-01-26 14:42:08,938] [Log ] [45 ] [DEBUG] - signal level = 2.4 dBmV
    [2014-01-26 14:42:08,974] [Log ] [45 ] [DEBUG] - SNR = 18.1 dB

That means TV Server thinks it can't get your channel lineup info.

I'm not sure how the Ceton application is able to do things. I'll try to contact one of their engineers and ask them.

You said your cable provider is Comcast. Whereabouts are you located?

    Thanks Firemogle

I received a reply from Ceton:
    Hello ***,

I have forwarded your request to our head developer for review and will notify you when he responds. I will probably need the report below for the developer to review though. We have a standalone diagnostic capture program we'd like the mutual customer to download and run, linked below:

    http://cetoncorp.com/downloads/ctndiag.exe

It doesn't include any drivers, but should allow you to gather diagnostic information. Once you run that tool, go to the Diagnose tab, fill in any relevant fields, and click the "Collect Information" button. Attach the resulting zip file to a reply to this ticket and send it our way.

    Thank you,
    Ceton Support

Please could you download and run diagnostic as requested and post the zip file here. I'll forward it to Ceton as soon as you provide it. :)

    Regards,
    mm

Here are the logs. I just realized after I installed my card my VM on the machine started getting weird with its network, I am going to play with the network settings and see if that is the problem.

    Thanks for the help.

To update I played with the network and was unable to get much going. The ceton network shows up, and really only shows activity when either mediaportal or the ceton tool would be using it... for example if I try to scan for channels the packet count starts to climb but otherwise just sits.

    Hello again Firemogle

I received a reply from Ceton. In short they said your InfiniTV 4 should be reporting that the out-of-band tuner is locked. They're going to look at fixing/avoiding the problem in a future firmware update. For now, you can try the attached patch to workaround the problem.

    To install:
    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Go to the "manual control" section.
    3. Click "stop service".
    4. Close TV Server configuration.
    5. Open Windows Explorer.
    6. Navigate to the TV Server install folder (typically c:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server).
    7. Make a backup of the TVLibrary.dll file.
    8. Replace the TVLibrary.dll with the attached version.
    9. Open TV Server configuration (click "yes" to start the TV service).
Now you should be able to scan... :)

    Regards,
    mm

I think that worked from what I have seen so far. It picked up a few hundred channels this morning while I was getting ready for work. My front end computer went wonky last night but once I get that back up I'll comment back just to confirm everything working.

    Thanks for all the help!
