Just in case it may help, here is my log file using Stepko's MPFileWriter.

The 0k live5-0.ts.tsbuffer was deleted before running the test, but another 0k file was created after running it. Of course, I still got the "no video/audio detected" error.

Doesn´t help much, because that version doesn´t write additional log infos. But I created a version with the same log infos like my TsWriter. You can try this version and post (or PM) the logs.

Thanks, Stepko. So, here is the log file after replacing the MPFileWriter with the one provided above. Can anyone make head or tail from this?

I did some quick testing with Stepko's modified TsWriter.ax
    Log attached.

    Scenario:

    1. Started recording channel X around 17:00.
    2. Then quickly viewed some channels A and B
    3. Finally started watching channel C
    4. Around 17:10 picture for channel C suddenly freezes, I turn MyTV off. Recording continues.
    5. I try to turn MyTV back on, I get "No audio/video detected" on most of the channels I try to view.
    6. I'll turn off recording and turn MyTV back on, everything is working again.

My timeshifting settings for TV Server are:

    Minimum 2 files
    Maximum 3 files
    Filesize 230 MByte/file

    located on 767MB RAMdisk.

I noticed that there was a "Not enough free space" log entry in logs, I wonder why that is...

Warning: Log file is quite big, 12MB uncompressed

EDIT: For me this problem only occurs when I'm recording something and at the same play and surf with other channels. Then usually, after a while the picture just freezes just like in my test scenario.

seco: It looks like you have a different problem. Did you check the free space on your ramdisk? Perhaps there wasn´t enough free space, even though you set the options perperly....

Well, there's nothing else on my RAMdisk so there SHOULD be always enough space for timeshifting files if TV Server honors my settings.

I also tried using harddrive with gigs of free space with same results when I first time encountered this problem, I'll try that again with your version of TsWriter.

Ok, I changed timeshifting folder to harddrive which has 50GB of free space.

There is something wrong with TV Server, timeshift buffer files are not being removed properly.

I now have total of 6 buffer files for this evening, I've been watching different channels and
just started recording and watching another channel:

    11.12.2007 18:12 74 live5-0.ts.tsbuffer
    11.12.2007 18:12 756 700 live5-0.ts.tsbuffer1.ts
    11.12.2007 18:12 658 000 live5-0.ts.tsbuffer2.ts
    11.12.2007 21:30 186 live5-1.ts.tsbuffer
    11.12.2007 21:48 230 000 000 live5-1.ts.tsbuffer1.ts
    11.12.2007 21:57 230 000 000 live5-1.ts.tsbuffer2.ts
    11.12.2007 21:57 230 000 000 live5-1.ts.tsbuffer3.ts
    11.12.2007 22:00 74 live5-3.ts.tsbuffer
    11.12.2007 22:00 230 000 000 live5-3.ts.tsbuffer1.ts

As I said in my previous post, maximum number of timeshifting files is set to 3
What am I missing, shouldn't TV Server remove those old buffer files before creating new ones?
    Is my configuration somehow wrong??

If those files are never removed and the space runs out, "No audio/video detected" is the result...

EDIT: TV is running at the moment and I now have 7 buffer files and counting...

This is what I tried, at Stepko's suggestin:

In TVServer, I went to Manual and started Timeshifting. I worked. I stopped and started several times, and each time I stopped, it would delete all buffer files, then when I restart it would create new ones.

I decided, while manually timeshifting, to start Media Portal. In TV, the channel I was timeshifting worked fine, for about 2-3 minutes. Then it froze.

I quit Media Portal, tried to restart Timeshifting manually again, and it gave me the "no video'audio detected" error. It also left the 0k buffer file.

I am attaching my log of all this.

Does anyone know what is happening here?

    Strange Workaround

Was playing with the new SVN build tonight and discovered something interesting:

I still get the "No video/audio detected" error.

But, if I click OK on the error box, then scroll down to Recorded TV and select it (even though there is nothing in there,) after about 20-30 seconds, a window appears with LIVE TV!

It works exactly the same way, like a charm, every time.

I am attaching my logs, maybe someone can take a look and figure out what is happening, abd perhaps solve this once and for all.

I assume this problem is plaguing single seat users primarily ?

    What about multiseat/rtsp users ?

U can force multiseat mode on a singleseat client by creating this empty file in the root of ur C drive.

    "usertsp.txt"

Singleseat TV is using the timeshifting FILE directly off the disk drive. This might prevent deletion by the serverside code if a client isnt done/released the file.
