I'm also getting the same error. It says "unable to start timeshifting. no audio/video detected". I usually have to restart mediaportal to get rid of the error. But as soon as I change channels I get this error. Oh and whenever I do get to watch a channel...in the menu when you press enter...it says timeshifting beside the channel. Should it be saying that even tho I'm not even trying to use this timeshifting thing. Argh...I wish you could disable this timeshifting crap altogether.

I had the same issue on my system. Strange was that my configuration worked so far until I have crashed my motherboard. So I bought a new one including a new CPU. Reinstalled everything including Mediaportal based on the last SVN. I have then configured my channels. I have created some groups but could not get them to work in MP.

At the same time my problems with "no audio..." started. It was strange that it only happened for some channgels but not for all of them. So I have rescanned everything and created only one group which contains basically all channels I like. I have deleted the rest.

Now everything works as expected. Not sure whether this helps for all of you but perhaps for some of you.
My impression is that there is somehting going on with the TV-Server configuration which causes issues with the channel configuration.

by the way I have the following config
- Skystar 2
- MP with last SVN
- Intel E6750
- MSI Motherboard

Unfortunately I also have problem with TVServer, SVN from 2008.01.03
(well none of them so far has worked for me)

After hardboot everything is working OK,
and the powerscheduler puts the system into standby OK (have not tested hibernation)
and it also wakes it up for recording
and also the system wakes ok from the power button
BUT there is no picture on TV, nor in the recordings
All i get on TV is a message saying: "Unable to start timeshifting...unknown error"
or an empty file of recording
(funny though that all the metadata is available, but no film itself, no error message about unsuccesfull recording)

I have ticked initialize service from the powerscheduler.

If I restart the TVServer manually then I get the picture back to the TV

Any ideas???

anything to do with technotrend dvb cards ??

I have the same Problem with Timeshifting and No Audio/Video Detected. Last time i had restart my PC a lot, and then works MP. But one day, I didn't watch TV and at this moment, MP doesn't work again. I restart my PC a lot, but ever the same error. Then I installed the new Snapshot from MP Server and now, I have a new bug: when i click on TV Channels in MP Server, then the Server crashs. And when I Start MP and want to watch TV, then came the error "Timeshift could not start, unknown error!" and MP close. What must I do, that MP runs perfectly?

Excuse for my bad english, I am from Germany, and I cant't good english

Well, why didn't u just check the error.log on server;

Seems like it can't create object with typeid

Try and "google" your registry ..start regedit, search for that key.
See what is registered - maybe do a regsvr32.

Serious TV3 Issue

I have to come back to the issue we obviously all have with MP and TV3. I thought I had it fixed by rescanning of the TV channels. And in fact it worked a while and then the issue came back. Looks like the TV Card gets blocked from the TV-engine. So I get the reported messaged "no video/audio detected" but if I go into manual control it tells me for certain transponders that the TV-Card is blocked. So played a little bit around with starting and stopping the engine and starting and stopping time shifting. After a while the transponder was released and it worked again just for a while. I believe that it proves it as a serious bug.

For different reasons I have to reinstall my complete system. I will then install MP without SVNs. I assume that the bug came in with one of the SVNs.

Remember that you cannot use the stable 0.2.3.0 with latest TVE3 SVN as the SVN numbers much match on MP and TVE3.

Few issues I noticed from the logs:

1) A lot of failing in CAM handling. Can you test removing the CAM from the card and then using unencryted channels?

2) Most likely MP and TVE3 server SVN versions aren't matching. Try to update MP and TVE3 to same SVN version. (also the TVE3 plugin).

tourettes I'm getting the same error in my logs from yesterday. I'm in the middle of format and re-install. I'm hoping this is going to fix all my issues. I'll let you know how it goes.
