Logs are *always* required for issues like that. We're pretty good at guessing, but we're not telepathic... ;)

restored previous image of media centre... so no logs.

will try again this week and see if I can't get it working. will post logs if not.

Reinstalled ForTheRecord and still have issues.

So far, I haven't seen the NO FREE CARD error (only just set it all up though) but have an error tuning to one channel frequency.... australian channel 9, GEM and Go.

Attached are the logs from ForTheRecord, MP-TV server and Client. I can view other channels at different frequencies.

Observed that I can record something on GO, and play it back whilst it is recording... but cannot view or tune to it live.

Hope you can point me in the right direction.

    Cheers.

    Hi again

    Okay, a few pointers:
    1. Disable the EPG grabber while you're testing. It is sometimes trying to use the tuner at the same time as you and that is causing chaos in the logs.
    2. According to your logs you have only been able to tune GO! on the Avermedia tuners. I don't see any successful tunes of any of the Nine network channels on the Winfast tuner. That may indicate that signal is too weak for that tuner.
    3. Australian channels are offset by 125 MHz. In other parts of the world the signal is offset by 167 MHz. I suggest you try manually scanning a range of frequencies (maybe 10 MHz steps) between 191.27 MHz (191270 kHz) and 191.83 MHz (191830 kHz) to check whether the tuner automatically checks any offset frequencies.
    4. How are you splitting your aerial cable? Could you temporarily feed the unsplit signal into the Winfast tuner and see if that makes a difference.
    5. Disable the Avermedia tuners while testing. The Winfast one seems to be the only one that has problems.

without the FTR plugin, my winfast card has tuned Nine, GO and GEM. I observed it picked up the frequencies during the scan so can't understand why it didn't add them.

how do I perform a manual scan in FTR with the tigher frequency range suggested.

I have disabled the two Avermedia cards and attempting again.

performed a scan from the FTR Tuner and it found the 3 channels on the frequency transmitted by Nine and advised the channel was updated.

it still FAILS TO TUNE when selected. The FTR console shows it has 92% signal strength and it is currently recording a show. It fails when I try to view the channel live.

I now have observed another frequency it hasn't tuned to incorporating SBS frequency.

    Hmmm

Sorry I can't help with FTR - I haven't used it for a year or more. I will say that I've had another look at your logs and I see this:

    2011-06-29 17:07:36,484 [DEBUG][Graph]: Tuning to 191333 7MHz RateNotDefined ModNotSet
2011-06-29 17:07:39,343 [WARN ][Graph]: Signal not locked!
    2011-06-29 17:07:39,343 [DEBUG][Graph]: Tuning to 191667 7MHz RateNotDefined ModNotSet
2011-06-29 17:07:40,312 [INFO ][Graph]: Signal locked, quality: 90%, strength: 0
    2011-06-29 17:07:50,375 [DEBUG][Graph]: Found 3 programs on 191.667 MHz/7 MHz:
    2011-06-29 17:07:50,375 [DEBUG][Graph]: ONID:0x1012 TSID:0x0430 SID:0x0430 NINE DIGITAL (Nine Network)
    2011-06-29 17:07:50,375 [DEBUG][Graph]: ONID:0x1012 TSID:0x0430 SID:0x0431 GEM (Nine Network)
    2011-06-29 17:07:50,375 [DEBUG][Graph]: ONID:0x1012 TSID:0x0430 SID:0x0432 GO! (Nine Network)

2011-06-29 17:07:53,234 [WARN ][Graph]: Signal not locked!

So FTR manually tries 167 kHz offsets. The channels were found at 191.667 MHz.
When you tune them with the Winfast tuner, I see in the TV Server log:

    So...
    1. It looks like FTR may have a bug with its offset frequency handling (ie. it doesn't save tuning details with the correct offset when the channels are found on an offset frequency) OR
    2. You did another scan with the AverMedia that I didn't see logs for, and that changed the stored frequency to 191.5 MHz. Your Avermedia tuners handle offsets differently to your Winfast tuner. There may be a registry key to change the behaviour of either of the cards, but you'd have to contact the manufacturers to check that.

At this point I suggest you delete all your channels and do a full rescan. Post the logs again and I'll confirm whether FTR has a bug or your tuners are somewhat incompatible.

I am using the MP as the recorder. When I figure out how to delete the channels I shall set it all up again with Argus as the recorder and rescan the cards.

Will post logs after doing so. Checked this morning and it recorded all shows last night, 3 channels which meant all cards would have been in use. Its just that the winfast card was doing a channel it tuned to.

Looks like MP's TV server is used as recorder/tuner, perhaps give Argus a try?

Is the offset handling an FTR bug in the interfacing with MP TV Server?

If you're talking about TV Server, just go to the "TV Channels" section, select all the channels, and then click "delete".

Will post logs after doing so.
If you're going with Argus then be sure to post on the FTR forum. Although I'd be interested to know if it makes any difference, I can't do anything to fix FTR issues.
