    Re: OnlineVideos 0.25 (25.09.2010)

Thanks, this is helpful. It raises another question, though: is watch-movies supposed to be on my list? I was wondering about it, but assumed it just wasn't hosted.

    Check your "manage sites"

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this advice. I've gone to the configuration settings, and checked the list there carefully. I have switched on every site that seems to be available, but can't see watch-movies anywhere.

Ok, you have to do the auto-update (when entering onlinevideos from mediaportal for the first time) first.
If all goes well, the onlinevideosites.xml (located in the programdata\... directory) should be updated, and then you should be able to select the watch-series from the "manage sites" menu.

Hmm. Interesting. I've had the auto-update on since installation, but I don't seem to have a "manage sites" menu.

I seem to have made some progress, but possibly not ideal. I found the OnlineVideosSites.XML file, and copied the block of watch-series code, renaming it "Watch-Movies". The auto-update then kicked in, and created some XML lines that I copied out of the config settings into the same .XML file.

I can now visit links in watch-movies, and watch the OCCASIONAL movie. Very few of them work; so far, only those from Megavideo and Wisevid. If I stop the movie, I cannot restart it: "URL not found". In these cases, I must restart Mediaportal to restart the movie.

I think you're making it harder for yourself than strictly necessary: have you read this?

If so, and it still doesn't work: remove the plugin (and doublecheck that the onlinevideosites.xml is gone), reinstall it, start mediaportal, goto onlinevideos, select yes for autoupdate, goto manage sites (cursor left button), there should be a watch-series and watch-movies, add those 2 and you're good to go!

And indeed there aren't as many movies working as I want to be, that has 2 reasons: I think they're removed more quickly from the website (you can check on the website itself), and I have not all video-hosters implemented yet (the latter I'm still working on)

The skin your are using might not be compatible with latest OnlineVideos version and NOT have this button. But since you didn't bother to provide System specs or attach logs ... keep repeating myself. The first post of this thread should be read...

Thanks for your reply. It isn't a question of "didn't bother," but rather, "didn't want to bother" anyone reading logs if they could come up with an obvious answer without. This is exactly what you have done, without need to examine logs, so I guess I was right; I am confident that this is a skinning issue and that I can fix it now. :D Rest assured that I have read the first post, and the SiteManager info, but could simply never find that feature and eventually forgot about it.

Doskabouter, I'm sure your answer to the inaccessible videos is also correct. I had checked them on the site, but overlooked the "ns" notations and mistakenly thought those should be working: :sorry:. IMO, changing the XML file was much easier than reinstalling and reconfiguring the plugin, so I'll see how that goes for awhile.

This is the plugin that "makes or break" a mediacenter, and I can't appreciate the work you have all done enough. :D. I have to say, though, without meaning to offend anyone, that it isn't a very welcoming forum compared to others in which I've participated. I'm very hesitant to ask questions here, lest my questions be seen as "stupid" and earn annoyed responses. I'm also surprised that so many participants get so upset with the people who report installation problems; while I realise that the reports are repetitive, some user's technical knowledge may make it difficult for them to realise that. Can I recommend that we adopt a policy of simply skimming and ignoring those posts we don't wish to answer?

I'm sure I will need more help here at some stage, so I hope I haven't alienated anyone. For my part, I will try much harder to respect forum policy on future visits. I will attach my system specs to my signature now.

Stupid questions is how most of us learn!
I've made more than one faux pas in asking something stupid - and will probably do so again :D

BUT I for one get annoyed at posts asking for info that is literally a page or so back in the thread...
If posters were more inclined to use the search facility FIRST then those who have been MPing for a while would be more inclined to help :)
Feel free to ask a question even if you think it's stupid - you'll get told so soon enough, but at least you might learn something.

Things like adding the specs to your profile help immensely and it shows that you are at least willing to help yourself too :)

I adopt the policy of teaching a man to fish rather than giving the fishes...

Share the love, but make sure you've got a big stick too ;)

    Re: OnlineVideos 0.25 (25.09.2010)

Any clue to why anything on Viasat only plays for 5 to 10 minutes?

2010-10-13 09:58:21.973632 [Debug][RTMPProxy(17)]: failed to read RTMP packet body. len: 65835

I am currently working on an automatic reconnect for rtmp (got it already working, but need to make sure it's not freezing MediaPortal in bad cases). That should fix these problems on Viasat and possibly other sites. I have to do more tests though. If you are in testing mood as well, I can send you a beta version.
