What about Multiple Boxes?

I have been looking around the furom for controlling multiple boxs. I am not able to find anything. What I was hopping to do, is have 1 digital box record all tv show etc... and have the other to watch tv with. Is there a way to set this up with MP and your software? And How would that be done.

Much Appriciate it if you can answer this for me.:D

Yes the plugin does support multiple set top boxes, but only on the SVN version. The 0.2.1.0 version of the plugin does not, unless they are exactly the same and you set the blaster port to "both".

Download it and give it a try. The documentation in the zip file should get you up and running.

    Cheers,

Alas, I'm still having problems with this plugin. I was having problems on the weekend with double clicks even though I had 'use mce remote' unchecked in the remote section of the mp config. I uninstalled the replacement driver as per the instructions in the readme & it was working perfectly, but I installed the Replicant skin & now I'm getting the double clicks again & the channels don't change even though the blaster blinks.
At first, the blaster wasn't blinking so I tried reconfiguring the plugin & now the blaster blinks, but the stb doesn't respond.
I tried reinstalling & uninstalling the driver, but windows says it's unable to. I ended up having to disable the plugin & re-checking the 'use mce remote' so I could control MediaPortal.
I'm guessing it's a driver issue. Can I un-install the device in hardware manager, reboot & let windows re-install the driver, or can I roll back the driver? Any suggestions?

Try to do a rollback on the updated driver, this can be done in XP under the device-manager. I'm also getting the dubble-click problem sometimes, but was able to eliminate the problem most of the time by changing the time between commands to 300ms.

I relly like this plugin, but I having problems in the IR learning.
I get results only after clicking few times the test button, and sometimes it doen't respond at all.
is there a place with pre-defined IR codes for several manufactures ( I have a samsung cable box) ?

The double clicks were because I didn't remove the replacement driver button mappings. Oopsey.
But the channels still don't change on my stb anymore. The blaster flashes, but nothing happens, even when testing.
So I re-installed MCE Replacement Plugin TEST v1[1].0.1.zip & now the start button works, but nothing else.
I disabled the plugin, re-checked the 'use mce remote' under the remote tab of mediaportal setup so I can control mediaportal. I had to roll back the driver to get it to work.
If anybody has any suggestions, I'm open to them.

There are a number of things that can cause trouble when trying to learn IR codes. Ranging from various hardware incompatibilities (some MCE tranceivers are not the same as genuine microsoft 1st party ones), software conflicts (other instances of the MceIrApi due to another plugin, HIP or Girder running), and environmental issues (plasma tv's, sunlight or other IR interference). Try eliminating any of these issues and when you teach an IR command just tap the button on the remote, don't hold it down.

Aside from that, you can find IR codes for a LOT of devices on RemoteCentral.com

Try these two links into the site:

If the blaster is flashing it's transmitting something (obviously), the problem is that the box is not understanding it. That's either because what's being transmitted is not matching what the box expects or because the signal is weak and not getting to the IR receiver on the box. Try repositioning the IR bug. Also, try re-teaching the codes to the plugin. Following all the usual guidelines about how to teach IR codes. It would be worth reading this too:
    http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm

    Hope that helps.

Believe this or not, but I had problems changing my stb because the IR-Blaster was dirty and the stb was not receiving the correct instructions. I removed the dirty glue-side and stuck it on again. Worth trying if nothing else works :D
Also make sure that you put the receiver in the dark when you teach it otherwise you will interference.

forgot to mention that blaster.exe from myblaster plugin worked great when I've tested the learning with the original MCE driver, the problem with myblaster was I coudn't see any flashes from the IR when I've changed the channel.
I've downloded a few files from the files you've mentiond, how do I convert them to your plugin ?

    thanks.
