I can confirm that the Zap2ItPlugin-v1.7-MPvSVN-20061023.zip is working with 0.2.0.0 + SVN Rev11316!

YOU DA MAN PATRICK :) Thank you over and over for continually making our lives easier in the US with the development of this plugin.

Hi, stupid question - is there a situation whereby the guide data doesn't match some of the channels properly? I'm using the Features release, and 2.0's channel database (copied it over), and the 1.7MP stable zap2it epg plugin.

Just wondering if I have to rebuilt the channels database from scratch using Scan channels (so slow), or whether it's just broken in 0.2.1 and it won't matter what I do. :)

    Thanks,
    ...Dono

I'm a little confused what you mean but heres a shot.

You can try backing up you channel list in the MP configuration.exe
Television->TV Channels->Backup and save to an xml file.
    Clear all your channels
Then Restore your channels from then backup file.
This "should" save your channels and frequencies so you do not have
to scan again but will cause the zap2it plugin to re-map the epg data
to the channels and maybe fix any mapping problems that were there.

If that doesn't help, please post the specific channels and
the epg.log file after an update.
You can post your log to http://pastebin.team-mediaportal.com/

I'm sorry for being vague, I was pretty tired when I wrote my message.

I had had MP 0.20 up and running, where I'd used Scan for channels (very slow, yes).

To upgrade to 0.21 "Features" release, I renamed the MP directory, uninstalled it, installed 0.21, then, being smart (or was it lazy), I copied database\TVDatabaseV21.db3 from the 0.20 directory to the 0.21 directory. I then installed the zap2it EPG 1.7 Stable plugin.

Everything works well, but a few channels aren't mapped properly. Channel 11 shows up in the guide as No Data and channel 3 in the guide is showing ch 11's programming. It also records from that channel as well.

I will try your suggestion, then if that doesn't work, I'll suck it up and rerun the analog channel scan and see how that goes.

    Thanks Patrick!

I didn't rerun the analog channel scan, as I'm not certain it's necessary. I've made a posting in the Paste log as requested (as Quotacious Donovan).

    Code:
27/10/2006 10:40:24 PM 203 [Info.] Channel WHDH was found as 7 ASN in EPG mapping database
    27/10/2006 10:40:24 PM 265 [Info.] Could not find a match for ASN/7
    27/10/2006 10:40:24 PM 281 [Info.] Could not find a match for CBHT/11

Ch 12 is already in MP as "12 WHDH" and ch 11 isn't used at all, not sure why it's making the wrong choices. Using "11 CBC Halifax (CBHT)" didn't help it find Ch 11 either.

    Thanks,

Its not really that it is making the wrong choices, it is that
there is an existing EPG Mapping entry and the the plugin always
assumes this is the correct mapping and will not try to match
    it to anything else.
So once Channel WHDH was found as 7 ASN in EPG mapping database
the plugin will not attempt to match "7 ASN" or "WHDH" to anything else.

Can you try backing up you channel list in the MP configuration.exe
Television->TV Channels->Backup and save to an xml file.
    Clear all your channels
Then Restore your channels from then backup file.

Then post the FIRST update the plugin does?
The log will be different and contain the Matching entries
    instead of the Update entries.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

I should have posted the original log. I had already done this, but then told it to redo the guide, so you didn't get the original log showing the match entries. I've redone the backup/clear/restore procedure, and while, to me, it's unclear why it can't match ch11, it seems it's using the OTA channel (in another country & state, I might add), to match it incorrectly to channel 7. This seems like a possible mistake in zip2it's information, as the channel in question is not available OTA in my location. See the PasteBin for the full log.

    Thanks,

That is a matching problem I was trying to fix in the v1.7.
    Zap2it provides both a Major channel(your cable channel) and a Broadcast channel(OTA).
When you lineup is cable like yours the plugin tries to match using the
cable channel first, comparing it to all channels in MP that have a frequency
    and are not currently mapped.
Only after checking all these will it try to match using the broadcast channel.

So it "should" only fall through to using the OTA channel 7 if it could not find
an available channel 12 entry with a frequency.

    1. Can you check Channel 12 and Channel 11 to make sure they have a
frequency (I think Channel 11=199.25 and Channel 12=205.25)?
If not, this is probably the problem, add the correct frequency and try the clear and restore again.

It is possible with copying the DB file somehow created a "stray" mapping entry
in the TVdatabase file. I have had this happen to me, after clearing all the channels
there was still an entry in the epg mapping table.
Really two things you can do for that:
    1. Delete your TVDatabase file, restore the channels again from your
xml backup file. And see if it still occurs.
    - or -
    2. Clear all your channels again, exit MP configuration.exe.
Use the "SQLite Database Browser.exe" located in the "docs" folder and open your TVDatabase file. Goto the Execute SQL tab and type "delete from tblEPGMapping" (without quotes) and Click execute query. Save and close the DB file. Go back to the configuration.exe restore your channels and try again.

If nothing above helps I may have to see your exported channel xml file and try to reproduce.

Hope the above is not too confusing, on my way out the door :)

    HTH,
    patrick
