I thinks I found a Bug:

1) Connect a second display
2) configure MP to run on the second diplay
3) disconnect second display
3) lunch MP -> error message
4) lund Mp setup -> error message , you need to reconnect the second diplay to change the configuration

fanoI, looking forward to you test results.

stektslav, i think, not entirely sure tho..that you video card may be to "old" to support hardware acceleration on a secondary screen.. so that would mean you still have to manually swap the display order in windows. (or use a shortcut or script thing.)
what is the cpu usage when running on the primary screen ?

Scubefr, thanks for pointing me to those errors :D i saw your message about this on irc. but you were just offline so i could not respond to you there..
The first error already was solved when you posted in IRC but the latter i fixed because you noticed and told it.
The error of MP not starting when secondary dispay disconnected was fixed in SVN:15766 2007-09-07
The error in configuration when secondary dispay disconnected was fixed in SVN:15840 2007-09-10

Thanks for your quick resolve ...

I have an other probleme but it's only on vista I thinks:
When I use Mp on secondary display, if a do anything on the primary screen Mp is reduce into tray ...
For the moment nobody can confirme that ... there is not a lot of vista user for testing ....

No 4x3 format while watching videos/TV?

Hi, my primary display is in 1440x900 format and my secondary display (TV) in 800x600. I installed the RC2 and Mediaportal starts on the secondary display, that's great! But I can only watch TV and videos in 16x9 format, some zoom modes don't work (black screen), the source is 4x3 format. I've got the same issue with a recent svn.
Do you know how I can fix this?

    Greetings,

    Tim

I solved this problem. After updating the display driver of my Nvidia FX 5200 all the zoom modes in MediaPortal worked. But only because the TV had another resolution (1024x786). When I change the resolution back to 800x600, there is still a black screen on some zoom modes.

I have this problem as well. I read back a few pages where it was mentioned that this is being worked on. Any ideas on how that's going? Also someone mentioned that they disabled VMR9 and that resolved this problem. Can any of you elaborate on how to go about doing that and what adverse effects might come about by doing so.

    Specs in case they matter:

Intel G33 Chipset (Latest INF drivers)
    Nvidia 8600GT 512MB (163.67 Beta Drivers)
    Soundblaster X-Fi PCI
    Windows Vista Ultimate
    K-lite Codec Pack Standard

So far I have been using the RC2 release of Mediaportal. I tried using the 9/13/07 SVN and the MCE remote didn't seem to work in that release.

Thanks for any help guys! Great Forum!

    It's include in MP 0.2.3RC2
MPsetup /general/ check "use screen selector" (or something like that) and the you can choose witch screen display MP must use with the selector at the bottom of this screen

Which display mode is supported with Nvidia cards?

I noticed that when I choose "clone-mode" no second display is detected by mediaportal. When in I choose "dualview-mode" it's detected by MP, but when I start MP (using the screenselector option, set to second display) it also starts on my primary display with the resolution of the secondary display. On the secondary display MP is displayed properly.

I'm using MP 0.23 RC2 on a winXP pro system. Graphics card: Nvidia 6600GT with Driver: 84.21 (I know its old, but it still has the classic look :) )

    @ everyone
    [
Then a few more questions i would like people to check and report in this thread.
    - What graphics card do you use? ATI / NVidia witch model ?

    - Is configuring on witch screen you want to display MP working as expected, two options to chose from ? with correct resolutions and adapternames displayed ?

    - CPU usage should not jump to 100% ? (it shouldn't but i my situation when not using the patched version when i dragged the MP window to the second screen my cpu got very busy.. because graphics acceleration wasn't configured to use that screen. Now dragging MP to other window is not needed anymore so no cpu usage problem either..)

    I'm running 0.2.3 RC2 with SVN 15813

-Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT
It is properly detected and displayed within MPConfig.
However, the screen information is identical so one has to guess which screen. It would be more useful to identify the monitor that was detected for each screen paired with the video card.

For example, here is what I see as my two choices in the current SVN:

    NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GT (1280x1024)
    NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GT (1280x1024)

The following would be more useful:

LG L1932TQ(Digital) on NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GT (1280x1024)
Plug and Play Monitor on NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GT (1280x1024)

Sure, one is a generic answer, but we only need one of them to be properly detected to allow differentiating the choices.

Also, the splashscreen or a simlified "Loading..." indicator should move to the target screen as well. Right now, the splashscreen shows on the primary monitor regardless of the monitor you target.

    Thanks for your reply piba.

When I run RC2 with only my 1:st display activated it still uses 100% CPU witch it didnt with RC1...

Maybe I need a new video card

    thank you
