thanks yogiman_uk... i happened to try renaming my VOBs to mpg's and found it worked for about 50% of them.
strange thing happens with with other half... they play just fine but MP thinks their length is 0:00 - so every time I try to FF or RWD them they got back to the start. though it might have been a bad VOB rip to begin with but they play just fine in Media Player Classic. weird!!
anyone ever seen this behaviour with other files? any known fix?
Yes your correct on the blog I created it does state this. I have been experimenting with this somewhat I have found various oddities.
1. Most of the movies concerned are Warner Bros, AOL Warner, Paramount, Dreamworks all from about the past 18/24 months. Any discs I prep previous to that are all fine, I am not sure about the 50/50 ratio, I am having more luck it would seem.
2. I have had none with a length of 0/0 but I have notice for example that the Terminal (tom hanks) ends at exactly 32 minutes, when I check the length of the 1st vob file in the set it is exactly 32 minutes long.
3. I suspect this is down to the .VOB header telling the system it is 32 minutes and that when you join all the .vobs together it still reads the 1st .vob and is only 32 minutes long. I .vob header editor would be the tool to use to edit the header and tell it how long it should be, however having loaded a .vob that does not work into the .vob header editor, I am none the wiser as I don't know what it is telling me
