Another machine has a MP-client installation only, but when I install PS, it installs and shows the server view (With the 6 tabs).
This is 100% correct. Since the last version PS++ remote clients (client only installations connecting to a remote server) can be configured like servers to account for network traffic, running processes and active shares prevemting standby of the client machine. See the PS++ wiki for details.

I think we've finally found the solution to the problem of the PC not going to standby with Grab EPG whilst Idle enabled.
Thank you for the information

New version 1.2.3.4 release candidate
Are there already any experiences with this version?

    Hi Michael,

thanks for taking care. Sorry, I misintepreted the behaviour.

The problem is easier: the standalone - client does not register on the server and therefore does not prevent it from going to standby.

I'm missing this sentence in the server log for the standalone client:

    2012-08-31 21:15:59.046875 [(10)]: PS: RegisterRemote tag: 17, uris: http://localhost:31458/d7069e6b_3815_4ae1_a075_0a7b684a7aa4 ...

(This is the registrations of the local client)

Firewalls are all open during tests.
Here the standlone client logs and the server logs.

Only local clients register to their (local) tvserver, remote clients only signal client activity to the (remote) server. This will keep the server up as long as there is any activity, i.e. as long as the MP client software with the PS++ client plugin is running. But there was a bug in the 1.2.3x versions of PS++ that made this signalling not work (as can be seen from your logs). This bug is now fixed with the new version 1.2.3.4.

    Hi there,

Is there any way of changing the way remote clients keep the TVserver awake (ie follow the same registration as local clients)?

I am runing the latest 1.2.3.4 release (with fix)

My situation where I have an issue is:

Singleseat - start watching TV, then stop TV (or any other activity). Leave HTPC on - Has 15 minute S3 timeout defined
Got to another room and turn on dedicated client (10mins may have pasted before turning on client)
5 mins may have passed will navigating through the client deciding what series to watch.
Click play... error.... Singleseat has gone into S3, as the client isnt keeping the singleseat from sleeping/hasnt reset the idle time.

    Or this scenario.....

Start client (wakes singleseat by WOL)
    Watch Online Video on client
    Singleseat goes to sleep.
Try and watch a series/movie/TV the singleseat is in S3 - error occurs

Ideally while ever there is a client awake, the "server" should be kept awake.

    Many thanks,

    J.

    Hi,
this is exactly the way it works right now. As long as a client is online it is registered at the server and standby is prevented. Are you sure you have the latest version of PS++ installed on your dedicated client?

    @Jay_UK
What you experience is definitively not correct. Make sure you have configured your single-seat system (which is the server for both clients - the local and the remote one) as tvserver in the remote client's configuration. And please send logs (both from the single-seat system and the remote client).

    Hi guys,

I'll do more testing and if I repeat the issue I'll post logs (difficult with wifey01 - she told me of the issues).

On a side note, was the issue of watching a movie/series not resetting the 'idle' counter/timer ever fixed?

I was watching a TV series last night on a client, when it finished the client went straight into standby - and didn't honour the timeout period afterwards.

    Thanks,

    J.

    Hi there,

It is reporting a process is stopping it from going into standby.

What processes have you got defined, and what is running?
