In my case the server detects the activity from the clients by shares and traffic.
After i turned off all my clients, the server should start with the 30 minutes idle but instead the server goes directly into the standby mode.

    Hi there,

I have a slight problem where PS++ is not detecting network activity - I am not sure what has caused this :(

I am running W7 with a loopback adapter (been running this for a while). Recently upgraded to mpExtended/WebMediaportal to 0.51. Also installed SkyPe.

Anyone else recently deteched this issue..or is it just me? Nothing is reported in the error log, nothing in eventviewer :(

Before I spend ages looking into this, anyone else got this issue?

    J.

    Hi again...

    I think I've solved it...

Had to rebuild my performance monitor library...

That's exactly what I tried to explain: The idle timeout in PS++ only refers to user activity (keys pressed, mouse moved, ...) - not to client activity (shares, network, ...). Since the MP client is not running the server has no information about user activity on your configuration. Thus the idle timeout elapses (no user activity) and the server suspends the system 2 minutes after the last shares and network activity ended.
If you need to account for user activity you should always run the MP client (with the PS++ client plugin enabled) to detect user activity or you should disable the "PowerScheduler forces standby ..." option and let Windows care for user activity and standby.

I have a strange issue with this plugin, when I let powersheduler manage sleep mode (s3) and not windows. It is my only way to let windows go into sleep mode automatically.

I have a usb hub connected to my htpc with 2 usb receivers connected (for keyboard and remote). Sometimes after resume my keyboard and mouse stop responding. Only thing that helps, is restarting my htpc. When I revert back to the windows power settings, everything is back to normal. Only issue that is left, is that htpc won't go into sleep mode by itself.

Nevermind this. I also have this issue without powerscheduler. Looked alright for a week but it wasn't so.

Since the S5 support already existed in 1.2.2.1, why not continue to make it available? Of course, I also understand that the loss of support for this feature in 1.3.0 results from a redesign of other modules in MP, which is why I asked where I should post this request. I would like to at least raise a flag before 1.3.0 goes into beta.
The incompatibility of S5 sleep mode has always been there, it is no "feature" of MP 1.3. In former versions of PS++ I violated MP interface definitions to allow "shutdown" sleep mode (and it worked well in most cases...). You could ask the MP developers team to modify the respective enumeration in the IPowerSettings interface, but that would mean that each implementation of the interface must then support the "shutdown" sleep mode. The other idea would be to extend the interface definition, which I could do on my own, since I provide my own PowerSchedulerInterfaces library with PS++. I will think about it when I am home again.

Did you ever get a chance to think about this? It seems to be my only hope, and it is the main thing holding me back from trying MP 1.3.0.
Since the latest PS++ doesn't have a shutdown option, I tried letting Windows 7 handle this with an OnIdle task, but Windoze thinks my system is idle when I am:
    • playing music
    • running a TV channel test
    just to name a couple of examples of when it shut the system down unexpectedly. :-{
To add insult to injury, Windows displays a nice little warning dialog saying that "Windows will shut down in less than a minute", but nothing I do prevents it.

Why is the plugin update function always updating this plugin to a non compatible powerscheduler version?
The 1.2.3.6 version is working in 1.3.0 Beta, the one it's updating to (higher but unstable version) when plugin's update automaticaly is marked as NOT compatible. Roling back to 1.2.3.6 and it's working again. In plugin section i marked this version to not update to prevent this automatic updating.

There is no PS++ version higher than 1.2.3.6. Which version do you mean?
