About the reboot: My htpc woke up at 12:00 and reboot!!! yes!!! but it didn't go back to standby after 5mn idle.
I noted something strange. My desktop pc and my htpc were connected at the same time on my network (lan ethernet).
At 12:27 (htpc still running) I stopped my desktop pc and 2 or 3 min later, my htpc went back to standby too. I made a second test by unplugging the htpc network plug and it went back to standby mode.
If your system does not go to standby check "powercfg /requests". The output of powercfg is also builtin into the newest version of PS++ (I updated the download links). You can see it in the staus of the configuration or in the logs.
About the wake up for grabbing epg, my htpc woke up at 13:00 but after 3 min idle, it went back to standby mode (too short to grab).
From the logs everything is ok:
Code:
2013-01-26 13:02:02.594300 [(15)]: plugin:xmltv: Telling PowerScheduler standby is allowed: False, timeout is one hour
2013-01-26 13:02:02.610301 [(15)]: File transfer is in progress. Waiting...

2013-01-26 13:02:06.722536 [(15)]: plugin:xmltv: Telling PowerScheduler standby is allowed: True, timeout is one hour
But it seems that the xmltv plugin does not cooperate correctly with PS(++). You should contact it's developer.

Hi, I have 3 issues that are related to PowerScheduler++.

1) Ever since replacing my remote with a standard MCE one, the HTPC never gets put into standby automatically. I have PS++ set to go force standby after 8 minutes of idle if MediaPortal is running (Windows is set to never sleep), and this used to work fine. Not sure if it's related to the change of remote but that's the only thing I can remember changing recently.

2) PS++ sometimes sets wake timers incorrectly for WebEPG. I have WebEPG set to grab at 03:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays but for some reason PS++ scheduled my PC to wake at 03:00 today (Monday) due to WebEPG:

2013-01-28 00:11:43.989506 [PS StandbyWakeup(14)]: PS: Inspecting WebEPGWakeupHandler: 28/01/2013 03:02:00

This could be a bug in WebEPG, I'm not sure.

3) My HTPC woke up for no apparent reason at 03:59 this morning. It wasn't set to wake up by PS++ but it did:

2013-01-28 03:03:58.462666 [PS StandbyWakeup(14)]: PS: Set wakeup timer to wakeup system at 29/01/2013 02:58:30
...
2013-01-28 03:59:12.975484 [PowerEventThread(9)]: TV service PowerEventThread 30
2013-01-28 03:59:14.938597 [PowerEventThread(9)]: OnPowerEvent: PowerStatus: ResumeAutomatic
Could something else be set to run at 03:59? Is there any way of checking this? I know it isn't Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows Update.

TV Log is attached!

Run "powercfg /requests" as administrator and see what prevents standby.

I would assume this, since the wakeup time is calculated by the grabbing plugin, not by PS++.

Have a look in the system event log and search for "power" (or similar) events. For every wakeup event you will also find the reason there.

I ran powercfg /requests this morning and it said something about an HDMI audio connection still being used, even though the TV was off. If I notice the HTPC not turning off again I'll do another powercfg /requests and note the exact message.

I checked the event logs and it says it woke up due to "Timer - schedul2.exe". The next few events all concern "Adobe Flash Player Update Service" so I guess that must be the reason.

I have a spare licence for Windows Server 2012 Datacenter if you want it, michael_t. Should work the same as Windows 8 if you install the GUI version.

I'm up for donating something if anyone wants to chip in too?? :)

Thanks a lot... but my proposal was not meant seriuosly. To be honest, I just have no time to really get involved in Windows 8 even if I had a license.

I use win8. All works fine for me. Just the team is not ready to support win8. 1.4 will most probably (unlessmsomeone finds a show stopper) support win8 officially

You configured PS++ to let Windows do the standby (after an idle timeout of 5 minutes). Your problem results from the fact that Windows does not respect this idle timeout if no user is active, which is the case when your system wakes up for reboot automatically. If there is nothing to prevent standby, Windows puts the system to sleep again after a fixed system timeout of 120 seconds - just before PS++ initiates the reboot. I modified PS++ now that it does not wait before it initiates the reboot if the system woke up automatically. This might have side effects, so I would ask you to test the PS++ version attached and give me feedback.

Same thing happens to me. I will check this sometime later as well (i have to re-install as i am currently using area51 with ps++ embedded)
