I have attempted to contact the mythtv developers with no joy. I have been informed that the next release of mythtv (0.21) will include a new rewritten gui with 3d backgrounds and animations!!! Sounds promising but i still can't see it touching media portal!!

try #mythtv on irc.freenode.net

I have been trooling the internets looking for information about this,

I have an old Xbox that can be converted to run Linux, in the lounge I have my media centre in the lounge running MP and the tv server. If I could get MP running on the linux Xbox I then have cheap media centre extender type things that I could move around the network with ease, take it outside and hook it up to a projector on the deck etc etc.....dreams....

So a full port would be fantastic as the haven't got windows running on xbox yet, maybe i should talk to the mythtv fellas about getting that to connect to the mp tv server....

Any way I would be happy to help in anyway possible but as i can't code my way out of a wet paper bag my usefulness is limited

One word...... XBMC

Yeah I read about that earlier but I don't think it will talk to the MP tv server that I am already running on my actual media centre which also has the mp client on it as well as the mp client on my laptop.

So while a great project it doesn't help me ...sigh... so picky

of course I may be wrong and thought this only communicated with MCE which I have abandoned in favour of MP

EDIT: XBMC Looks pretty good, apart from no live tv from tv server

Awesome,

That is perfect timing, as soon as I work out how to thank ppl I will thank you for that link.

Time to start modding the XBOX it would seem.

Also MythTV is already a client-server system. And it is linux-stable. No hassle with M$-stuff. (Sorry for the commercial of MythTV, but after about 5 attempts to get a fast stable windows with MP I gave it up).

here's another one to check out - http://elisa.fluendo.com/ (Still in heavy development, but racing in the right direction by a very talented team!)

(and if you're interested in my background - i'm still running xp/mp on my htpc until elisa matures, but every other pc in my house has been converted to linux. i've totally lost faith in microsoft :p)
