    Hi!

I know this problem has been reported before but I can not find any recent solution/workaround...

When I watch TV the picture sometimes freeze. The only way to workaround this is to go back to Home, press Stop, and then restart the TV again. Skipping forward/backward does not help. The log shows a "VMR9Helper: playing->repaint 0" message as the last item before the freeze.

I use MP and TV3E SVNs from Dec 8th. I've tried to change codecs (PDVD <-> MPV), graphics cards (integrated ATI X1250 <-> Nvidia 8600GT), and to turn VMR9 Exclusive on and off, but nothing helps.

    I'm running out of ideas...

Anyone out there with more ideas what can be the problem?

    /Peter

Does it only happen when watching live tv? Could be a problem with the timeshift files/recreation. Try setting the timeshift file to something like 2 Gb to see if it happens less often. Or try playing only recorded files :)

    Hi vuego,

Thanks for your post. As far as I can tell this only happens with live TV. I just watched a recorded program for 2 hours without any problems.

I saw some earlier post about timeshifting files, the number and size of them. I had min=100, max=200, and size=256MB. I'll try with min=10, max=20, and size=2560MB to see if it makes any difference.

Do you have any other recommendations?'

    /Peter

    Hi!

I bumped up the settings for the timeshift files per vuego's suggestion. Still I get freezes...

    Any other ideas out there?

    /Peter

Not really, I tried with a different TV-card but got other problems instead (BSOD). Thought the problem was gone, but got another freeze this morning...

    Nothing in the logs?

Cause I'm never had any freeze here using any of the decoders you mention, DScaler Audio decoder. See my spec for more details.

I can add that I didn't ever seen this when on XP either..

So it should work... week signal on the antenna?

    Hi pnyberg,

The only thing in the log is the VMR9Helper...repaint 0... Is that the same you get Brudertac?

As far as I know the signal is strong and clean.

Just a thing I did notice earlier (however I think gemx sorted all this now in the latest SVNs) is to disable EPG grabber in the TVE3 config. I know this caused my TV to hang occassionally.

I'm using xmltv so I really don't need the EPG (updating daily via a batch script).

Also if you have enabled dvbsubs or teletext in the mediaportal.xml it could also be a problem (unless you use the latest SVNs from today I think). Just check the dvbsub thread for details.

    Regards,

I have seen this in my Logs too.

Yesterday i have Updated my FloppyDTV Firmware and while doing this i have used the Digital-Everywhere Support Tool.

This told me that my System needs a MS Update for better Firewire Support. (KB885222)
I have Installed this Update and now it seems to work.
Peter, have you a FloppyDTV Card too ?
