Re: AW: Re: Problems with dropping frames with EVR

"Red Planet" is know to be mastered incorrectly (interlaced flag) - in case it helps searching...

Bug is definitely in our EVR presenter code. 2.0x FFD plays without a single stutter :)

Didn't you update to TMT3 yet? Using that for DVD as well might be a lot more "stable" if it comes to special menus and stuff like that.

No as it costs money and TMT2 plays all the blu-rays I currently have. Also there was some issues with ReClock and TMT3 and I need ReClock as my LCD plays only 50Hz material (so blu-rays are currently speeded up to 25fps).

Also the bug would still be present with 24fps on 48Hz :)

    Hi Tourettes

Sorry but i would like to know if the issue was fixed ?
I'll compile 24800 and test it but with 24786, i have drop frame with Video Player when i seek video, sometime it's smooth and very often is not smooth. I use ffdshow (in software mode), if i use it in MPC-HC to try, it's very smooth.
    Thank you.
    Sebastiii.

I think, i found the answer. Problem with terrible stuttering on powerful enough hardware (i mean not ION etc) with EVR and dual-monitor appears only when Aero theme enabled. Why? Because Bill's super-feature "Windows Taskbar" with "better thumbnail previews" starts grab EVR-stream for live thumbnail viewing, when application out of focus
In my case, the use of simplified themes solved the problem - try it!

    Sorry for my English..

what do you mean with simplified themes? turn off Aero? you get tearing and no DXVA with this. If you just disable thumbnail preview, it doesn't solve the problem.

Weird.. DXVA still working in my case (HD - CPU usage about 35% on my Athlon 4200). Now I'm trying to find a way to enable Vsync - tearing Really present :(

How you disable thumbnail preview ONLY? I found how to disable using of style at all (on Advanced - Perfomance tab in System) - not separate features. And it solved my problem too :)

    Hi there,

With DXVA working, on HD I get about 5% CPU utilisation.

I dont think there is any simple fix (like turning off Aero), the Devs and other members have tried most things (including some serious geeky stuff). I think they are virtually there (fingers crossed).

I'm waiting for RC1 to see what happens (currently running the latest SVN, with modified dshowhelper, core - and this works great for me) :D

with this core.dll and dshowhelper the stuttering just got worse on my dual screen setup (dropping also). Disabling thumbnail preview doesn't help here either. Only thing, that helps is "keep mP allways on top" but that damn option steals the focus from other apps and gives it to MP the whole time, so you can not really use dual screen setup with it.

The new dll haven't helped me either. Also using a dual screen setup and Win 7. I have tried both 32bit and 64bit versions of Win 7 and there is no difference. I hope a solution is found for this

This new code introduces a big bug. I'm running a build I compiled from the latest SVN revision. If you skip around, or start a movie not at the beginning, frames are dropped until a reference frame. Log attached.

Good find with the "keep MP always on top" option. This improves things dramatically for me but it is a bit limiting on a dual screen setup. Hopefully some clever people can figure out why this improves things and find a more elegant solution.
