Mmmh. When I open the .pls in VLC on the client, music playback starts almost immediately.
I have a direct connection (no proxy, no untypical DNS, no VPN)

Other webradios in MP start immediately.

I have no clue about wireshark debugging.

Is there an option to set a higher timeout anywhere?

Maybe try to debug with Wireshark?
Do you have any "fancy" network configuration for the client PC? ...proxy, VPN, non-standard DNS...?

Yep, it should be that :)
@Requiem can you evaluate the time when the stream start in VLC for example ? (between open the pls and hear the sound).
On my side, it take 2 seconds (from MP log).

Great your answer my question that i just posted lol.
I think it's hardcoded on MP side (10 seconds) but if VLC start directly maybe something on firewall slowdown inet connection ?
Did you try to disable AV / Firewall for example ?
Like it's working for me, BASS DLL should be ok so it's more something of network related but looks weird.

Strange....when I follow the link in Firefox, it really takes almost 30 seconds to start playing.

Connection to the server is good.
    Code:
Ping wird ausgefhrt fr am.audio1.fr.ipercast.net [79.170.112.143] mit 32 Bytes Daten:
    Antwort von 79.170.112.143: Bytes=32 Zeit=35ms TTL=55
    Antwort von 79.170.112.143: Bytes=32 Zeit=28ms TTL=55
    Antwort von 79.170.112.143: Bytes=32 Zeit=27ms TTL=55
    Antwort von 79.170.112.143: Bytes=32 Zeit=23ms TTL=55

    Ping-Statistik fr 79.170.112.143:
      Pakete: Gesendet = 4, Empfangen = 4, Verloren = 0
      (0% Verlust),
    Ca. Zeitangaben in Millisek.:
      Minimum = 23ms, Maximum = 35ms, Mittelwert = 28ms

Starts immediately in VLC. AS I wrote above, disabling firewall does not change anything.

I have an ISP branded version of F-Secure running. Disabling both this and the Windows firewall does not change the behaviour.

    Here's a tracert.

ANd here is a wireshark log. This is above my level of network knowledge, but if anyone can see something in it....

I'd also like to be in New Zealand, so much nicer than here, And all those hobbits down there ;-)
