You are true, it's not a .dll problem, it' a .xml problem.

I use the skin-specific SkinSpectrumAnalyzer.xml file in the PVHD folder to display the spectrum analyzer in the way I want for my skins.
OFC you may edit that file if you want

Well, the crash is when, there is no default .xml file in config folder.
I also tried with your .xml in config folder (with renaming) and config crash too.
I understand that you want plugin to be configured like you want for this skin, it's normal, it's your skin
But, if you add the previous .xml I uploaded in your MPE1 to go in config folder normally, config will not crash anymore and, when used in your skin, your settings should be loaded, no ?
What do you think ?
Only to avoid a crash on a newer install...

Thank you ajs, it's more clear now.
In fact, there are 2 problems :
The spectrum.dll provided in PVHD is 2.0.0.8.
Your last modification is 2.0.10.
The .dll could maybe be updated in PVHD MPE1 (with also the .xml in config folder to be added).
The second problem is than skinspectrumxxx.xml in skin folder doesn't work with .dll 2.0.10.
So, for it works, I suppose skinspectrumxxx.xml should also be upgraded with needed values for the PVHD skin.

Just upgraded to 2.0.0.10 and skin xml works perfect
Next MPEI will have the latest DLL and the XML in MP Config folder

I stopped using the Purevision a couple of updates ago after I started getting a 'wrong skin file' error trying to go to MP-TVSeries. I'd like to go back, as this is my favourite of the available skins. Is there anything I can do to get Purevision working for both movies and TV series' again?

PVHD works (and always worked!) perfect with all mentioned plugins.
Make sure you use the latest versions of plugins and skin

Have reinstaled latest of PurevisionHD and MP-TVSeries. Still getting a Wrong Skin File' error.

Only hint I can find in the log is:
"[2020-03-08 19:55:53,817] [Error ] [MPMain ] [ERROR] - SkinSettings: Error loading settings from C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Skin\PureVisionHD 1080\SkinSettings.xml - Root element is missing."
