Instructions for deleting the database can be found here

I think this might only apply to MySQL.

I know there is a way of doing this from setuptv.exe. I think that from the command prompt you need to type 'setuptv.exe --d' but maybe someone can confirm. You will need to be in the same directory as the setuptv.exe for this to work.

    Can someone please confirm this?

before dropping the database could you just check it

Open up a command prompt (as admin if Vista / Win7)
navigate to MySQL Bin folder (is C:\\Program Files\\MySQL\\MySQL Server 5.1\\bin for me) and enter
    Code:
    mysqlcheck --user=root --pass=MediaPortal --auto-repair MPTVDB

Good point, although even if the database check is fine, there is still the problem that chemelli noted - it looks like this is a very old database format that is almost certainly no longer compatible.

Did this come from a recent clean install?

thanks but it is a local routing issue with external (IPv6-)content (like Google). I disabled IPv6 for the moment and wait for some feedback from hosting company.
