Interestingly, even while in the Messages tab, when I pressed the Green Button, WMC launched. After I closed WMC, still nothing in HID Demo...Messages tab. Would this indicate that the remote still works for WMC, but HID Demo is not recognizing it?
Yes, I presume that means that the HID Demo is not recognising it. However having said that, I suggest you take a look in MP Config -> Additional 3rd party checks as well:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_..._Configuration/97_Additional_3rd_Party_Checks

Normally to get the green button to start MP you'd have to disable the MC services and enable MPTray. I think (but could be wrong) that if the remote were fully WMC-compliant it would still function within MP if the HID handler were enabled. In other words, I think disabling the MC services is optional... but maybe it is necessary to enable MP to take control over the remote. Sorry I can't give a more definitive answer about that.

Here are the logs after running MPConfig with the new HCW Helper.

I will post the expanded devices tab next.

    Two things.

    1. The modified HcwHelper is showing inputs:

So, we definitely have a potential avenue for adding support that way.

    2. Have you ever had (or do you currently have) KODI installed?
If you have (or do), you need to be aware that the KODI MCE Remote plugin does some nasty non-standard stuff that breaks our HID-based MCE-compatible remote support. If you still have KODI installed, you can revert the hack by following the instructions here:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...rked-fine-in-1-12.133071/page-10#post-1173008

Otherwise you can revert it by applying the registry update from here:

Here is a screenshot of the Devices tab in HID Demo. [If you need me to expand it, I can supply that info as well.]

Your device list is looking good. It looks like your remote should function with HID Demo and MP.

I'm not really sure how to use it. I went to the Messages tab and Tests tab and pressed a few buttons, but nothing appeared in those tabs.

You should have gotten some feedback when pushing buttons in Messages tab so that's obviously not so good.

As @mm1352000 suggested above see that Kodi did not mess with your registry.

Yes, I did have Kodi installed once. I don't have it installed now. Before I wrote my original post, I browsed the forums, and I saw the post with the registry update and applied it. It didn't work, and that's when I wrote the original post.

I'll try that again tonight when I get home from work to see if that fixes things.

    I'll keep you posted.

    It didn't work...
Do you mean that the update failed to apply?
...or do you mean that the update failed to make the remote work?
If you mean that it failed to apply, I can only guess that you may not have run it with administrative privileges, or that the registry structure/content is different for W7. It may be necessary to temporarily install KODI in order to cleanly revert the change.

You could also try your luck with Advanced MCE Remote Mapper.
Give us a couple of screenshots from this application so that we can see what are your remote buttons mapped to.

LATER: ho wait don't bother this tool is for genuine MCE remote, it probably won't work with your hardware.

    Any updates Bob?

Sorry, I've been swamped at work for the past few weeks. Now that I have some free time, I hope to take a look at this tonight.

The registry was applied successfully but the remote still did not work.
Just curious: how would re-installing Kodi help? After re-installing, it should I uninstall it, and then apply the registry fix again?

I will also try the Advanced MCE Remote Mapper, suggested by Stephane.

    Thanks,
    - Bob

    Hi Bob

Okay. Well in that case all the more reason to reinstall KODI temporarily.

Just curious: how would re-installing Kodi help?
The KODI MCERemote add-on supplies an undo/roll-back function for the registry changes that it makes. If the problem really is caused by the registry changes, I'd expect that function (+ a reboot) to fix the problem. If it doesn't, you'll know that something else is wrong.
