Remote Setup (1 Viewer)

I've just downloaded MediaPortal 1.0. I have a Dell Inspirion with front but controls and an IR remote. Please tell me what I need to configure it. I can't find any instructions on this.

what sort of remote do you have? there's several different methods depending on what remote you have.

there's the "remote" section in the configuration, i personally didn't have much success with this, so i installed the "ir server" plugin which can be found in here : MCE Replacement Plugin - MediaPortal Forum

although i am using it as a replacement for the built in MCE remote support, i ended up disabling the MCE-replacement section as it seemed to serve no purpose (and crashed the configuration too) - just the IR server plugin does everything i need it to. this works very well for me.
