Hi, I still have problems playing .mkv files. I have reinstalled both Haali Media Splitter and SAF, but no luck. The files won't play in WMP or MP (but VLC works fine).

Should SAF make me able to play all kinds of files (at least, those .mkv files), or do I have to download other codecs as well?

Hmm, PowerDVD9 out - need to investigate...

... and while you are as me investigating: do you see a possibility in using the TruTheater-Goodies (upscaling, sharpening, natural motion etc) in Mediaportal? As far as i know thise setting don't apply to Directsho-usage right? would be too bad though.

So Far these option are greyed out for me anyways, no matter if try to play a DVD or a .ts file. Have to check it all out properly when i'm home this evening...

EDIT: these are the settings for CLVSD/Mediaportal in the registry, doesnt look like it's helping though:

This options are available only when you turn off DXVA. It is useles (only gama correction is good). If you want to see these setting in use, you can do it in MPC-HC.

Try disabling DXVA (it is in registry file in ZIP). If didnt help, post video example.

There is only a Gray to black gamma fix (I use MP 1.0 and SAF 3.30). I am not sure that I can post a video example, as all files are big and there might be some issues posting TV-series here..

edit: Sorry, I tried the fix from newest version. The files are playing now! Does this mean that I can't use HW accelleration?

Just out of curiousity - any results with PowerDVD9? Is it worth upgrading from PowerDVD8?

Am I supposed to unistall this codec before installing Haali and SAF ? Does it matter? I see the divx sign on the bottom toolbar show up when playing videos. From there I can click on it and you can changes options like de-interlacing etc. I just dont want things to conflict. Should it be removed and just install SAF and Haali ? I noticed that my Haali options dont have Divx & xvid selected as they are in Hoborgs first page examples.

This is drivers issue - try different drivers version. Please, specify yout system setup in CP!

Best you can do is uninstall it (there is conflict possibility, etc).
MPC-HC divx/xvid was replaced by xvid decoder, wich alows postprocessing for better picture quality.

SAF is supposrting only CyberlingMpeg2 decoder (CLVsd.ax).
There is new version 8.4.0.205 of CLVsd.ax in PDVD9, but no idea what was changed - no new options here.

Did as suggested. FIxed my issue with my MCE remote not working on avi's properly lol (finally). One thing though, had to reinstall just the divx H2.64 directshow filter codec only, so that some of my mkvs would play properly. For what ever reason, using MPC some MKVs act really wierd and the screen goes nuts. Otherwise all working great.

When you say the screen goes nuts, is that with dxva on? If the video is poorly encoded it'll cause screen artifacts, jerky playback, audio skipping, etc. You need to reencode the video for dxva to work. If you turn dxva off and it works fine, it's a poorly encoded file. You can use mkvmergegui to create a few second clip and post it here. If it does it for us too it's the file. I've had this with most of the mkv's I've downloaded from the net. Probably reencoded 90% of my 150 HD movies.
