Hi hoborg,

I have problem with the subtitles, because of my regional settings. When i set regional settings of my OS to English, some Turkish subtitles are shown incorrectly. When i change it to Turkish, i have problems with MP (MP crashes because of wrong character conversion of some files) and some other plugins (like TVSeries ).

I know the correct approach to this problem is changing MP and TVSeries code, but as a shortcut, can i set VSFilters default language setting to "Turkish"? It uses the OS regional settings as i see, but in my case setting it to Turkish default will solve my problems quickly and easily.

Hello. You can setup region in MP movie subtitles settings (for MKV subtitles). If you want to setup this for avi subtitles too, you need do it directly in DirectVobSub filter.
There is not way how SAF can solve this

This is my personal experience with PowerDVD MPEG2 decoder.
If i enable DXVA - DVD's opening time was longer, and picture quality was worse then in software mode. CPU usage was nearly the same.
So i don't use it.

Ok, so I put the trailer into MP and it played fine. I had about 35% cpu on my P4 2.8ghz htpc. Here's a screenshot of what the graph looked like while playing. Hope that helps you out!

When I play it directly in MPC it plays with only 4% cpu and the MPC filter properties say: VC-1 Bitstream decoder, so that's accelerating it fine. How do I get MP to use the right filters?

I think the problem is mediaportal does not allow you to specify a preferred VC-1 decoder, so the decoder with a higher merit- i.e. Windows Media decoder takes over and that doesn't do DXVA.

Acording to your screens, your video is in ASF/WMV format.
SAF is build for MKV/AVI...

Any way to add wmv and to get MP to select MPC as the default player for VC-1? Or is this outside the scope of SAF? Thanks! I appreciate all the help and quick responses.

Hello.
First of all, fill your system specification in your "User CP"!
Try to play your problematics DVD/videos and connect Graphstudio to check if graphs are created corectly (if corect filters are in use).
Post small example of problematic video, so i can check it.

DVD's should be working just fine...

Sorry about the information, it´s filled in now.
Regarding the DVD-playback i actually did solve the issue by (as it said in the guide) copying the CLVsd.ax to C:. The only thing wrong there is that I get washed out colors (black is gray, not black). And that there are two black bars (about 1cm) on screen top and bottom.

The h264 etc. formats however does not play correctly, some does. But as shown in the screenshot below, some movies gets large pixel shapes (edit. I think this it what is called "macroblocking") all over the picture. This is happening i Media Player Classic HC to, so I guess it has something to do with the DXVA not working properly.

Main problem is used MS ASF/WMV format. This format is not open source, and it can be DRM protected, etc. Best way how to solve your problem is to change video container from WMV to MKV. But that is not easy task, you can look over internet for some tool, but i am not sure if you can found one.

Thanks for fast replys. With the DVD I ment that the colors is kind of worn out, brighter as there suposed to be. I guess it has something to do with the color of the DVD vs Computer (16-255 things and so on).

I´ve seen this exakt same issue on two other movies (I have deleted them thou, the sound was out of sync), and the artifacts only shows whem I have DXVA turned on. Otherwise they´re working perfect.

There isn't any problem with the VC-1 file I linked to with DRM- it works fine with DXVA with the MPC video decoder in MPC-HC. MPC-HC also plays normal WMV9 files no problem using the MPC decoder (but without DXVA). The problem is that WM Video Decoder overrides the MPC decoder in mediaportal, presumably because it has a higher merit. In theory you could fix this by using SAF to make sure WM Video Decoder has a lower merit than the MPC video decoder.
