Well it didn't work with the SAF beta (which also includes ffdshow), so I installed latest ffdshow because I thought this would help. But okay, maybe someday it'll work again

Is it possible to use madFlac (for multi-channel FLAC audio within a mkv movie) with MP + SAF? If so, how?

Please, try with SAF only, then create MP logs and post them again.

you advise to test Windows XP Professional 32-bit en-US - Black Edition, but some codecs are included in it with also drivers which are not up-to-date. What are the pros of this custom vesion of Windows?

Yes, there is k-lite installed. You can simply uninstall it if you do not want to use it.
This OS version is tweeked in many ways, have different (and faster) installer and included all XP updates up to 08.12.2009 (version from 12.12.2009). That means there is no need to do any updates.
Have latest Frameworks and directx installed, not sure about vcredist.
There are tons of AHCI drivers included, so there are no need to install them from floppy durning OS install.
Some uselles services and stuff was removed, etc...

Guy who releasing this XP OS mod are doing great job. And if you have your own XP SN, you can change it after install.

1) no, it is included in latest version
2) try and see wich one will be working best for you, last time i tested it 8.5 was stable for me
3) i doubt about it

I'm also using HD3200 with XP Pro SP3 and I don't think I had any problems with 9.5 or 9.8. I'm not sure that MPEG-2 DXVA was working properly though, so maybe that works better with 8.5, or maybe my files are just not compatible.

With 9.12, I no longer have a properties tab for my second monitor in CCC, so I'd avoid that if you use dual monitors.

Yes. Flac decoding with ffdshow in SAF gave me a few issues:
- Reduced bit depth from 24 to 16 bit
- Because of 5.1 PCM over HDMI, I need to have ffdshow recode stereo to two channel ac3. If not, live TV will not be encoded as surround sound in the reciever, but there will only be sound in the left and right speaker. Using flac decoder in ffdshow, the 5.1 pcm sound from the flac decoder will then be recoded to 5.1 ac3 and kills the whole purpose. This can probably be solved using profiles in ffdshow.

Using madflac and disable flac in ffdshow i get 24 bit sound to the receiver (using reclock and wasapi exclusive mode) and I also get stereo sources recoded to stereo ac3 since ffdshow will not interfere with the 5.1 channel pcm stream.

Hi Hoborg,

I've installed a fresh copy of Win7 32bit. After installing mediaportal, i unlocked SAF, but SAF installation halts in "Unpacking" screen. I'm sorry if this is a known issue, i searched but coudnt find it.
