There are some known problems with IE 8 and Adobe that I encountered a few months back, and flash does not install properly. Try the flash player uninstall utility and then re-install. Don't accept the option to install the Adobe Download Manager Active X when you re-install. I think that's part of the problem from memory.

I have been working on this for a week now, and I just can't figure out why I can't get .flv for you tube going. I have installed adobe flash player for IE over a dozen times but I still get the. Adobe Flash Player (IE version): Not installed.

First of all,you need to update your MP to latest SVN (fix for MPC video decoder crash)

Another problem is broken FLV links, for example you tryed to play:

http://youtube.com/get_video?video_...cFPIj-HtAOReOooqFa3mFwIM9BhIWjSUqU4=&ext=.flv

If you click on this link, you will see nothing happend = link is broken. That is reason why it doesnot work.

CPU Type: AMD X2 4850e
Video Card: GeFORCE 8300 (Onboard)

I get 16-18 fps when watching HDTV channels. have tried to record a show, and it's the same when trying to play the recording. But if I open the recording in windows mediaplayer outside MP it plays perfect. Tried PDVD9 and CoreAVC decoder, both with the same result. Have had this problem no matter witch SVN release I've used

Your onboard video is probably too slow for live HDTV, especially for anything that is deinterlaced. Even GeForce 8500 is too slow, and 8600 is borderline.

So I can't make use of DXVA with LIVE HDTV with this card? It's the same on all HD channels.

Yeah the onboard 8300 won't cut it with interlaced HDTV using H.264. I messed around with that config for ages trying to get it to work. I'd recommend a 9500 if you're going to upgrade.

Just a short observation. Great effort that madflac decoder is included in SAF. But to use it for mkv-files with flac-soundtrack, flac needs to be disabled in ffdshow audio configuration.

Getting my ATI Radeon 5450 today, bitstreaming will be interesting.

Why? FFDshow FLAC decoder works just fine for me for FLAC tracks in MKV.

I've tried both, but madflac seems to be the only one that pass 24-bit audio to HDMI. ffdshow flac decoder reduces this to 16-bit. Yes, i've checked both 16 and 24 bit in the output screen in ffdshow. Might be something else in the setup though, so if anyone get 24-bit audio to the hdmi output with ffdshow, please enlighten me

The HD 5570 is just out - Radeon HD 5570 review - and is considerably more powerful (otherwise you replacing a low-end GPU with another low/mid-end GPU). Also a take look at the GT220.

The HD 5570 is just out - Radeon HD 5570 review - and is considerably more powerful (otherwise you replacing a low-end GPU with another low/mid-end GPU). Also a take look at the GT220.

Thanks for the tip, but I don't want any fans (want my HTPC to be as silent as possible), and I do not use my HTPC for gaming.. So still believe the 5450 is the best choise..

It's not about gaming - the low-end GPU's can't handle vector/pixel adaptive deinterlacing - the highest quality mode - for HD material when combined with Aero (which you need enabled for MP on Vista/Win7).

(But from Home Theater Computers - AVS Forum it's to early to tell if the 5570 can really handle VA de-interlacing for HD in the same circumstances - probably have to wait until AMD sorts out it's drivers - as usual....)

Older 4550 can handle VA without any problem, so 5450 should do it too.
But you are right, it is new card, with new drivers issues...
