PowerDVD 8 Navigator is disabled by MP becouse some kind of troubles.
I have lot of experience with DVDs and MS DVD navigator + PowerDVD is best combination i ever have.
What problem do you have with DVDs?

I decided to give this combination a try, but I have problems with DVD menu navigation. It's possible to select an item with the mouse e.g. Play Movie but the item is NOT highlighted. Since items are not highlighted, navigating with a remote becomes a pain...

If I disable hardware acceleration for PowerDVD8 in the MP Configuration -> Directshow Filter Control, the DVD menus works. But I loose hardware acceleration and consequently Nvidia Purevideo...

This is for my main HTPC based on a brand new ASUS P5N7A-VM motherboard with Nvidia Geforce 9300 mGPU, and latest drivers :(

The odd thing is that the same setup works flawlessy on another computer based on ASUS M2NPV-VM with an old Nvidia Geforce 6150 mGPU.

I can mention that I experince the exact same problem within PowerDVD8 as well...

All ideas and suggestions are most welcome.

Hello.
What kind of DVD is that with not working navigation? Original / home made?

I usually rip my DVDs to ISO and use MP + Deamon tools to automount the DVD. But I have also tried some DVDs directly.

DVDs (original) I have tried are for example The Dark Night and Hancock. DVD ISOs are Asterix and Lucky Luke (MP is growing popular at home :) ). All of the above DVDs are working on my other computer with a identical setup.

Since I experience the same behaviour within PowerDVD8 is suspect a Nvidia driver and PowerDVD incomatibility for Geforce 9300...I actually sent a question to Cyberlink but I has not got any answers.

    Hello.

I have a lot of that same thing aswell with "homemade" dvd's. A lot of DVD images dont have a propper working menu where the selected items are outlined. Id did use to work better for me a while ago. What the cause is, I dont know. I thought it was caused by something in MP, because they dropped the ability to use powerdvd navigation as well.

I actually had this working ok with MP 1.0 RC3, using PowerDVD7 codecs and navigator. There were some problems with resuming from last position with setup. There have been issues with DVD navigation in MP during the past years but lately it has been working.

I recently changed to a new motherboard and installed MP 1.0, then the problems started. I'm not quite sure that I wan't to blame MP for this since I have it working ok on another machine.

    Edit;
On the other side I didn't get PowerDVD7 codecs and navigator to work on any of my machines with MP 1.0. That was the reason for changing to PowerDVD8. So perhaps there have been some changes in MP.

Well, i tested ~20 original DVD's (MS DVD navigator + PowerDVD8) and they are working just fine.

I had problems with "home made" DVDs. I created them in Womble software. This DVDs was working only under PowerDVD navigator.
Then i tryed TMPGEncDVDAuthor software and reauthor my homemade DVDs. Now all is working perfectly. This TMPG stuff are pretty good piece of software.

So, it looks like MP is a little picky about what DVD image is fed. Am I correct?
I think this, because Powerdvd does play the images without any problems

Not Media Portal but Microsoft DVD navigator is troublemaker (XP and Vista too).
    May be Windows7? Who knows...

Hi! I was using ffdshow for a long time (resizing to screen resolution 1920x1080 and for subtitles), than I decided to use your set of filters. Works very nice and thank for your effort to make MP better than it is. I have only one isue. I'm using subtitles in east/centraleuropian coding (Croatian and Serbian non Cyrillic) but some characters are not properly dispalyed on the screen. When I change code page in Vsfilter (vobsub) to East/Cent euro... while movie is playing, everything is O.K..But, is it possible to make East/Central Euro coding default code page for MP.
I tried to change Script in MP configuration - Videos - Subtitles - Display Font - Script, but, only Western script is available.
Any Idea how to make permanent coding in East/Centraleuropian for Vsfilter?
I cant find some vsfilter .ini file or something , nor how to change value in registry fo vobsub...

    Hello & thanks.
What kind of subtitles are you using?
    AVI+subtitles or MKV with subtitles?

    Do you have EN windows?

    Got an answer from Cyberlink...
    Dear Jonas,

Thank you for contacting CyberLink Technical Support.

We understand your concern related with DVD menu navigation issues.

Please note that it is the issue with the nvidia drivers.

We deeply regret for the inconvenience caused.

Interesting to see what Nvidia has to say about this...
