I have only these decoders on my Vista HTPC, and I can litterly play everything, with or without hardware accelleration (BTW, DXVA is not allways better.. in the past I used the x1250, on which DXVA was worse then using the CPU, certainly with HD material.. who cares if the load is 60 or 70% if the output is brilliant, why not!).. ok what I use:

Sorry but most of us here don't have cpu's fast enough to run 1080p video at 70% cpu without problems. How about a p4 3ghz? That's why alot of us use SAF, to get dxva running on older hardware.

See my specs, Intel duo core E6600 is allmost three years old... in PC terms that is considered ancient history allready .. I do overclock the Duo Core to 2.7 Ghz though, stock it is 2.4Ghz.

Note that to get the full advantage of a duo or even quad core processor you MUST have Windows Vista to get the multi threading feature, with XP the two cores are considered as two seperate CPU's and then for each application you can use just one core at a time.

The x1250 (which in reality is a x700) can't do DXVA for HD, if I'm not mistaking.

Hmm, the X700 is in the discontinued section of the ATI website, but the X1250 is still fully featured, so I do not think the X1250 is the same as the X700, it is a chipset for Intel based motherboards.

Anyway, the specs say that it "provides the basis for platforms with H264 support" and "Supports top quality DVD and time-shifted SDTV/HDTV television playback with the lowest CPU usage"

Well, my experience is that it is quite limited, it does play H264 movies in DXVA, but with quite some stutters when it gets busy on the screen. Also live HD-TV was with stutters.. allways. When I changed over to the HD4650 it all became a lot smoother.

hey guys, i just ordered my new videocard (GV-R455D3-512I, Gigabyte HD 4550).
I'm using windows xp sp3. which catalyst version workst best with this card and SAF verson 3.30 (i'll upgrade to the newer version when the MP 1.0.1 patch is released. i don't want to crash my installation with the snapshot)?

I love SAF Works great with all my movies and series.
But I would like to make a suggestion for a future SAF version.

Is it possible to give the user a choice which Audio filter he would like to install?
- MPA
- SPDIFER

I've got the same problem some others have.. When I'm playing files with a DTS track, I get some stuttering and syncing problems. But when I use SpDifer instead, it works great.

For me, AC3 filterd didnt work with my Camcorder videos, and i have no problems with MPA at all.

Just wait for MP 1.0.2.

Sounds like MP 1.0.2 might be right around the corner. I Didn't want you to do anything, just curious if you knew when it was expected. I've given up on trying things ahead of everyone else. I'd rather wait until it all works good. Thanks!
