To be the ultimate pack it just needs someone to find out how to have subtitles and DXVA in MP.

I posted a couple of days before. Since then I have been trying to get everything running. As alal has stated, I still think there is something missing. To get MPEG acceleration to work I had to register (manually regsvr32), basically the whole filter folder (see attachment) that I extracted from the previous powerdvd8 installation...after that MKV playback had hardware celeration as well.
HDTV (H.264) is still not working with your filter (jerking, a strange ratio like 16:4 and artifacts) - for whatever reason.

FYI, running XP:

EVR mode (NET3.0 + added EVR.dll; DXVA2.dll and evrpro.dll to system32 folder and registered it)
Catalyst 8.5
HD2400 PRO

EDIT: just tried 8.10, no bluescreen, but also no H/A!

GraphEdit (originally M$) has now many formats, for Vista guaranteed working version with Vista, download from here http://shark007.net/files/GraphEdit_x86.exe

There's also a link for a x64 version, just in case your not telling us something.

I am just trying MONOGRAM GraphStudio 0.2.9.0 and it is working under Vista SP1 64 (look on screenshot up).

I'm using Vista SP1 x86. Can you kindly tell me what also do I need to have installed for MONOGRAM to work? My HTPC just have installed MP1.0 RC3(with SAF 2.25)/MPC-HC/CCCP (codec pack). All other stuff is from Vista.
DirectX SDK needed? Or DirectX 9?
Really without any ideas.

EDIT: Don't ask me how but after intalling M$ GraphEdit MONOGRAM started working!

Are you installing the Cyberlink h.264 filters? I have found that if you have those installed they will take precedence over the MPC-HC filter even if you select MPC-HC in MP config (so MPC-HC filter is not actually in use at all). However even when I uninstalled the Cyberlink filters MPC-HC still didn't work for me, hardware acceleration on or off (in fact I'm not even sure there was an on/off switch (under DirectShow options) for MPC-HC? Cyberlink only works for me in MP with hardware acceleration off (using 8.4 beta and 8.10 CCC). I have also found variable results using different versions (7.3/8) and even different builds of those - 7.3 standalone player will accelerate 1080i/p h.264 but not VC1, 8 standalone player will only accelerate 1080i not 1080p h.264 and will not do VC1 either . VC1 also causes a nice graphics bug on the latest build (4407) of 7.3 with a little green checkered box stuck around the mouse cursor which only goes away when you reboot...

I also have the same problem within MPC-HC standalone player with HDTV (interlaced) recordings- this is a well known problem and has not been fixed with the latest builds of MPC-HC (see this post). Unfortunately this probably means I will not be trying SAF pack again until they have that fixed and any conflict with the Cyberlink h.264 codec is sorted out.

OK, scrap what I just said I have just been testing with the latest build of MPC-HC standalone player (845-x86, x64) and it plays ALL my BBC HD 1080i h.264 recordings perfectly with hardware acceleration (DXVA), with no tearing, blockiness, jerkiness or anything with 11-18% CPU usage on an Athlon 64x2 5000.

It also plays 720p/1080p h.264 and 1080p VC-1 all using hardware acceleration (DXVA) with CPU usage of 5-15%.

But, the crucial point (at least for me, on XP SP3) is that, in View>Options >Playback>Output you must select VMR9 (windowed). Overlay mixer generally seems to work and uses slightly less CPU but there are slight picture abnormalities in some 1080i h.264 TV recordings. VMR9 (renderless) mode will only provide a picture if VMR9 mixing mode AND YUV mixing is selected and there is tearing unless Direct3D Fullscreen is selected which still seems to be BETA feature since it goes to full screen and there seems to no way to get out of the player apart from rebooting.

Another point is DirectVobSub/VSFilter seemed to be interfering with hardware acceleration so I unregistered it with RadLight Filter Manager (from here) and I had to go into safe mode (F8 on startup) to delete VSFilter from Windows/system32 folder.

So what I need to know is can MediaPortal use VMR9 (windowed) renderer? It is not clear from the VMR9 options in MediaPortal whether this is available or not?

Yes, it looks like hardware faulire... Maybe damaged RAM. Did you try MemTest?

Tried memtest and a few others. At some point in the test the PC just completely powers off without any blue screen or other information. Tried same thing with one memory module at a time figuring that there is no way both modules could be bad, but same thing happens with each module individually.

I'm thinking either motherboard or cpu, but if anyone has any reason to believe it is something else, please let me know as the RMA process is likely to consume 2-3 weeks of downtime. I have not completely ruled out the power supply, but my experience with bad power supplies is that they either work or stop working.

Can you say the Catalyst and BIOS version you are using? Have you tried setting optimised or fail safe settings in the BIOS? Have you altered any Catalyst settings from default?

I've tried all Catalyst drivers and am currently sitting at the F5 version of the bios. Catalyst wouldn't apply in this case as I am booting directly off a CD into the mem test app. Haven't tried optimized for fail safe settings as I didn't even know it existed, but I will try tonight.

Just to know, what GPU are you using?

I guess its not possible to get MP to use windowed mode, I mean not in fullscreen mode. I remember reading something where someone stated that he only gets H/A in windowed mode with MP as well.

You said, you only get H/A when using VMR9, have you tried to enable EVR (usually coming with vista or NET Framework 3.0) by copying dxva2.dll, evr.dll and evrpro.dll in the system32 folder (you gotta register it manually)?
The picture itself is better, in terms of its colour etc. (EVR is a prerequisite for dxva2)
