Hi

How do you do that? Hoborg mentioned in the first post that there is no solution for hdtv yet, becouse there is some conflict between mpc codecs and .ts files.

Actually I also had to install another AVC codec to watch hdtv, becouse of this problem.
Or is it solved already?

It isn't solved- MPC decoder will still not work with AVC/h.264 TV yet- see CiNcH's post at DVBViewer forums:

"MPC Video Decoder still does not feature H.264 NALU/Access Unit parsing and expects the splitter to do that and deliver a whole H.264 NALU/Access Unit at a time.DVBSource does not do that. Dealing with H.264 bitstream is the responsibility of the decoder in our opinion. "

I have bad video quality when playing DVD's and MPEG video.
Yes, it is becouse SAF included MPEG decoder is not perfect, but it is free.
If you want better video quality, you need to install some comercial MPEG decoder (like PowerDVD, nVidia
PureVideo.Decoder, etc)

Sorry if this is obvious but when you say install some commercial MPEG decoder is that the same as using the CLVsd.ax file or are you advising to buy and install the full powerdvd player or purevideo?

Yes, CLVsd.ax is comercial, but you can extract it for free from PowerDVD software.
Using CLVsd.ax you will get perfect MPEG2 (DVD's, LiveTV, etc -not h.264) video if your hardware support MPEG2 DXVA.

I saw a similar statement earlier in this thread and therefore tried out CLVsd.ax. Unfortunately, I still get the occasional tear or judder. I have only analog cable (no HD), and the HW should be good enough (ATI HD3450). What could be causing these problems?

What version of ATI drivers were you using? I think Hoborg mentioned that anything newer than 8.5 will cause problems with SD video.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I am aware of the problems with newer ATI drivers, which is why I have 8.530. Is this already too new?

Im using your codec pack SAF and Im happy with it. But is there any reason why some movies appear very dark and others are normally bright? Can this have to do with the codec or resolution used? I am using the Automatic Refreshrate Changer from Gibman, together with an ATI card.

I have a lot mpg HD files that i have to rename to mkv, and my h264 HD is not working with my TV card with the SFA.
So i'm wondering why SFA is better then like Klite. Please respond.

edterbak i had a similar problem.

HD movies where fine (not to dark and not to bright)
SD movies where much to bright. i searched the internet and found that ATI drivers have a bug where the "card uses wrong colorspace"

if your problem is like this: to dark HD movies and good SD movie than i guess your colour is set to dark, the SD movies look just fine cause your card uses the wrong colorspace which compensates the overall to dark picture.

if your problem ist like i discribed above then the attached vbs script might be helpfull
the UseBT601CSC=1 registry entry froces your videocard to use the same colorspace for HD and SD movies.

you should make a backup of your system, i don't know how clean the deinstallation works

Hello. I newer have use any kind of codec pack, only ffdshow. I have no personal experience with Klite Codeck Pack, Vista codecs pack, CCCP, etc..., so i cannot compare. SAF is developer directly for MP.

MPG HD files should work correctly in SAF, no need to rename, only H264 in *.TS videos need to be renamed to MKV to make them working. Can you post small example?

I want to build a MediaCenter with MP with the least codecks. So, SAF is really good, but only if my mpg HD movies are working.
I have uploaded a sample (10mb of a movie, but u only see some secs) that will not play with SAF.
