First I would like to thank you for your effort in developing this filter and the support you are offering. My system is working like a charm, but I 've still got an little issue.
Playing ISO, *TS, et cetera is working flawless including DTS. But when playing 1080 MKV I have noticed the following:
The video plays ok, very smooth...but the sound is stuttering.
I am using a Soundblaster X-Fi through and this card is connected through optical out to my DTS receiver. I tried different configuration settings in Media Portal, but still no luck. Which audio renderer should I select in the MP configuration? Should I select "Default DirectSound Device" of should I select my own X-Fi soundcard?
I read that some have good result installing AC3Filter, but I don't want to mesh up my installation by trying that before asking for some advice.
Hi.
Try to play your MKV in MPC-HC player (is only one exe file).
If your probmem will be the same, you need to report such issue directly to MPC-HC team, becouse SAF is based on MPC-HC.

I'm running SAF with MP and using a chaintech av-710 sound card, using the toslink out to my harman receiver. I'll check my settings tonight and post them, perhaps that may help.

Ok, it looks like in MP in the MPA in the MPA Decoder under Directshow Filter Control, I have SPDIF selected for both AC3 and DTS, then PCM 16bit for the format. Then in my chaintech settings I have it set to SPDIF too, and it works perfectly so far. Not sure if this helps. What settings do you have?

Would I be right in saying that if I install MP with Haali and ffdshow codecs that I can play TV, XVID, and MKV through the one application? I don't need music/pictures I just use live tv and then xvid/mkv files.
What is the advantage of SAF over installing codecs like Haali and ffdshow/ac3filter etc?

I have the same settings selected in Media Portal, also in my Soundblaster setting I have it set to SPDIF. For every file format is works perfectly, but only for one HD file it is not working flawlessly. I have some other HD films where I can try this with. Maybe my tested HD film is corrupt. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the reply!

Hoborg would be the best to answer this but I'll give it my best shot. For starters if you installed SAF you wouldn't install ffdshow. SAF uses Media Player Classic Home Cinema edition as it's main audio/video decoder. Also, SAF is setup specifically to work with Media Portal, not other applications (that doesn't mean they wouldn't work though).
So, you'd follow the installation steps on the first page of this thread. This would get you Haali splitter, SAF and Media Portal running. Setup MP according to the screenshots. Then if you want other formats, like quicktime and real you'd install the quicktime alternative and real alternative packages (found via google). I'm pretty sure SAF as it stands will play xvid, divx, etc. Again, check out the first page, all this info is there.
I also run MP with the TV server and it works great with my hauppauge tuner. I believe it records in .ts format and SAF plays everything perfectly, so no worries there.
When I first started playing with SAF I planned on using AC3filter as well, but found that I just don't need it as the MPA decoder works great. The other nice thing is Hoborg keeps up with the codec updates so we don't have to!

I ran into the same problem with all versions of this program. The only way I have found to fix it is to use AC3filter as my audio decoder. When I do the audio playback is perfect. I have run into a issue with these filters not allowing me to use AC3filter even when selected in MP so you will need to use graphedit to make sure.
