Hallo

I dont know how to use Graphstudio so I made the MediaPortalLogs_09_11_09

I hope someone can help me.

Only if I deactivate the DXVA, then I can watch MKV´s with a bit tearing.

This may or may not be useful but I'll post my experience anyway (Windows 7 x64):

Using the latest MP svn (both the compiled, posted one and one I compiled myself off the repository) and SAF beta20test3 I'm seeing weird behavior with live TV. I use the Hauppage HDPVR as a tuner/capture device.

In the latest SVN(s) - not the MP beta - the PowerDVD codec plays live TV very "slowly" and out of sync with the audio. This is with hardware acceleration turned on and off, checked in Graphbuilder to make sure it was right.

FDDShow works "better" for live TV now but it still has the same problem it's always had with MP and live TV with the HDPVR - the bottom quarter of the screen is distorted. It looks good and is in sync but of course with the corruption of the bottom of the picture it's not usable.

I also tried CoreAVC, and that actually works perfectly well - picture looks good and audio/etc are in perfect sync.

So with the latest svn's I'm forced to use CoreAVC instead of the PowerDVD 9 codec for live TV, a reversal of my 1.1 beta experience.

I will update this post with logs in a bit - don't know if this is an issue that can be solved, but thought I would post it.

Yes and i have no idea what can de wrong. You can try udpade DirectX,GPU drivers and try latest SAF.

i did see you have added NO and

    FR languange.
Can it have anything to do with the fact Dutch is not yet supported ?
How can it get supported by saf ?

    DVD + EVR + DXVA

tourettes, last think i am thinking about is GPU. Maybe navigation is working on nVidia and not on ATI?.
It is not codec issue for sure. One of first tests i did on my Win7x64 was DVD + EVR + DXVA test using MS navigator + MS audio/video decoder under MP. Result? No DVD navigation. MPC-HC, GB-PVR and MP - same issue. Still no problem on XP.

Some of those issues could be related to GPU drivers as well, but not all as I know many team members (and users as well) who are able to use ATI + DVD + Windows 7 / Vista + DXVA with working DVD menus.

Fact is that without building own DVD navigator and MPEG2 decoder we are always facing the possibility with no-working DVD menus as the whole DS chain can affect the result. Currenty Windows Vista + MS MPEG2 codec + MS Navigator has been working with every tested DVD. With Windows XP + Cyberlink navigator + Cyberlink MPEG2 decoder I had few disks that didn't work properly, but who knows coud have even been ATI or Nvidia driver issue (cannot remember which card I had that time in HTPC).

BTW, you wrote ATI didnt support L5.1 - not true, it support it, but it is limited to 5ref. frames.

Oh, sorry. Didn't know that ATI has updated the support a bit. Previously only L4.1 was supported. The bad thing is that 5 ref frames limit is many times too less when many "scene" releases people are watching are having higher reference frame amount, good thing is that MPC-HC decoder knows the ATI limit and can fall back into software decoding mode (where as Cyberlink will just have corrupted decoding result). And another bad thing is that the more reference frames you have the more you would be needing the HW acceleration to take the decoding load.

SAF isn't downloading the files for the unlocked version anymore. It just hangs for a while then says "decompresion failed" and continues to install. as a result nothing works anymore and I'm missing most of the codecs. I tried to reinstall test3 and I now get the same problem there. is the server down or something?

Try to mux AVI to MKV using GDSmux (look in to Haali install).

Thanks I will test it for the avi's, btw MKVmerge did not have any result.

To be more specific when I use VMR9 the audio plays (also the subtitles), but the video is just a series of colored blocks that never changes. When I use EVR, everything seems to be good, and in MPC-HC everything works fine.

This sounds like a color output issue (eg. RGB/YUV/etc), run a graph when you play the movie in MP and another graph for MPC-HC. I imagine that MP is using ffdshow video, if so you might fix it by changing the color output values in ffdshow settings. (just write down what you alter so you can change it back if needed)
