Domini0n,

Thanks for the link, should have searched for it myself, glad to hear that the little m-ITX based HTPC solution is working, I am getting one soon to go completely noiseless with this case (getting rid of even the CPU fan). Can't wait!!

Thanks,
Jaz

That is only my tip for new CPU if you by some rason decide to change AMD CPU...
Seems to be "perfect" for HTPC.

Oh, I'll keep that in mind :)

In my opinion: If your gonna upgrade, it would be better to add a discrete graphics card rather than changing the CPU over a HT3 CPU. A discrete graphics card will give better performance increase, and also onboard video + HT3 cpu is still a little borderline. The cost is probably similar after you sell your old CPU, but a lot less hassle and a lot easier to add a video card. For ATI, I recommend HD4670, (Although a lot of people still feel that ATI have problems with DVB-T and prefer nvidia, especially with Win7 MCE, ATI has problems with microsofts built in h264 hdtv codec whereas nvidia doesn't)

NB: We are talking about onboard video here. As changing from HT2 -> HT3 CPU will have no effect if you don't have onboard video.

I'll keep that in mind too. Buying new hardware makes me a sad panda (just given that I did this HTPC build around 1.5 years ago and it's able to handle everything without breaking a sweat (except de-interlace MPEG2). Upsetting when it can play 1080p MKV with <3% CPU but live TV stutters.

Basically my fix at the moment is disabling MPEG2 DXVA, which has no stutter and is about 20% CPU (obviously the quality is not as good), but it works. I'll see what happens in the other thread and the tsreader issue and then decide.

I found something interesting this afternoon - under "Avivo Video" in the CCC, I disabled the "de-noise" setting under advanced quality, and (I think this is the important one), enabled "enforce smooth video playback" under video playback.

I'm now able to watch live tv, with dxva on (PDVD MPEG2), with no stutter whatsoever and MP is only using about 5% CPU! I'm getting a hell of a lot of dropped frames of course.. but that's the tsreader issue?

What do you think?

Also, where are the crop settings in MP, can't find them :(

I'm runnig a ATI HD3200 grahics (780g hipset on motherbord) and got recommended Catalyst 9.5. I can't find these settings I think...?

I am looking to use this on my re-install that I am about to do. What does (*unlocked* only) mean. It clearly refers to certian features available only if you have "unlocked" that capability, but how do you unlock it?

    Thanks
