Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

Hi Hoborg,

I tried the test2 version.
I am unable to use the ffdshow as postprocessing. With ac3 encode spdif enabled or disabled. When I disable it, I get only stereo sound to the receiver, no 5.1. I tried nearly all combinations in ffdshow audio setup > output section. No luck.
The problem is now solved for me when I use AC3filter as post processing AND disable ac3 encode spdif. Otherwise I can not get it working.
Maybe I have an additional complication because I have the Xonar sound card. ffdshow explicitly mentiones something about this when changing the try pcm first compatibillity options. Might be, I dont know.

Thanks for testing.
I think the problem is explained here:ffdshow tryouts project: Discussion & Development - Page 503 - Doom9's Forum

Expanding on the idea of kiwijunglist... Maybe it is possible to have an image like this during installation of SAF.

It might be overdoing it a bit ... :)

Sorry, but that is not possible. There is no such feature in Paquet Builder :(

It might be possible to just include the picture, and have the users decide which setup matches theirs, and select accordingly afterwards?

Also, I do not have any HD TV channels yet, is there any point of me updating to the new Cyberlink Codec if all works well? Will I be able to change channels faster as well, or does this only apply to SD to HD changes?

    Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

After installing SAF recently, I have discovered a strange audio issue on my MediaPortal.
I have enabled passthrough and enjoy watching my movies with 5.1 Dolby Digital sound (at least that is what my Denon receiver tells me). When playing a video (ripped DVD, played from Video_ts folder on harddisk), everything is fine - until I press <space> to pause the movie. The display on the Denon immediately switches to Dolby Prologic. When unpausing the movie, it still says Dolby Prologic and there is NO sound at all.
If I hit 'B' to stop the movie and then resume the movie again, the sound signal is again Dolby Digital 5.1

So, basically, I already have the workaround, I was just wondering if this is something that others have experienced and if there is a fix for this issue?

Should be fixed in next public release:

Do I HAVE to uninstall PDVD8 in order to use the PDVD9 decoder? I keep PDVD8 for HD-DVD playback, uninstalling it at this stage is not an option.

Since I was unsuccessful getting the new PDVD9 decoder working originally, I'd say I probably do have to remove it for whatever reason?

Removing PDVD8 is recomended. You should use PDVD 7.x or 9 as external player, but PDVD8 should work too.

Hi Hoborg. Just unlocked SAF with latest test version on Windows 7 64bit and ATI 3870.

    I've got a little problem:
i set within mediaportal Ciberlink PDVD9 as default codec for both mpe2 and h264 videos but if a put an MKV into graph studio it tells me that MPC video decoder is used.

A small question: should i update the haali media splitter as i 'm on a 64bit enviroment and use s/pdif connection to my receiver?

If you setup MP to use Cyberlink, then it should be used inside MP

Graphstudio using filters acording merrits, not how you setup them in MP.

And no, SAF have already latest Haali integrated. No need to use x64 version, becouse MP is x86 application.

Just a small FYI. When you select codecs in MP, the selected codecs are used only in MP, and not necessarily in GraphStudio, which will use the default codecs as assigned in Windows.

If you want to see which codecs MP are using you need to connect GraphStudio to MediaPortal while MediaPortal is playing the file.
