This pointing that MS put such "special" samples in to Win7 by some reason - to show everybody, "hey, you must use your software..."

Or a simply bug in the MPC-HC MPEG splitter :) MS MPEG demuxer itself is also buggy (multiple bugs are known, and that is the main reason why TVE3 doesn't support MPEG2 recordings anymore).

hmmm couldn't work out how to bring Live TV into MPC-HC, so no obvious way to test outside MP.

Make a recording and play that TS file in MPC-HC. It should be able to split that.

Note you only really notice how bad it is with HD Mpeg-2. Its still there with SD, just not as noticeable. So I could try DVD's, but it would probably look like SD TV (ie not as noticeable).

Sample pictures show pretty horrible deinterlacing artifacts indeed :)

I just realised how stupid I was being with my h.264 comment above. I'm using MPC for h.264 videos. Not PDVD 9.

I mean - record small sample and play it in MPC-HC player - is problem still there?
BTW, MPC-HC player have support for liveTV :)

I just installed a new Sapphire HD 5670 I have a problems with unlocked SAF installation on Window 7 , x64. The SAF installation does not does not recognize the graphics card as shown in the output log. The ATI driver version shown in device properties is 8.673.

    How can this be fixed?
How can i also check if dxva/hardware acceleration is being used when a video is being played?

Looks like nice mess in registry...
That is common problem when replacing GPU.
If you reinstall OS, all should be OK...

I have no idea how to fix that, sorry :(

That probably wasn't the best example I could give. Only the players were moving in the picture. So here are some new ones. With DXVA on, the artefacts of de-interlacing are much worse, and the picture generally looks worse. The stills don't do it justice - it really is noticeable with a moving image.

I'm thinking the MPEG 2 acceleration on these ATI cards may not be all that great.

What resolution is your LiveTV (SD & HD)? I ask because I've been unable to get DXVA working at all on a 2600XT with LiveTV over here in the UK, so was wondering if our countries use different resolutions.

There seems to be a lot of 'blocking' in that second picture, particularly noticeable to the left of his head. Is that normal, even for HD?

Unfortunately, I also get terrible artifacts on some programmes, even though they're SD and DXVA isn't working as far as I can tell!

If you open your m2ts sample in graphstudio, will it play?

IF not, post small sample, so i can look.

BTW, you can try DSmux to mux m2ts in to MKV, maybe this will fix your issue.
