2nd note: all my files are converted into a .mkv as well (except for m2ts's)

So works when in a container - mkv? Can you try one that you did not convert?

I also can't play XVID, I get a "this can't be played" error, and then the screen stays black and I have to use exit with Task Manager.

BTW:

My Specs:

Windows7 64-bit
CCC 10.2
Raideon 5870 HDMI to Plasma PDP-6070HD
MP RC1
MovingPictures 1.0.2 (Beta 3)
ffdshow audio decoder in post processing (SPDIF Passthrough)
audio is currently fiber (get my Pinoeer SR-27 monday to use HDMI audio through out)
SAF 400RC1

So, it's not an nVidia specific issue.

Ok, so tried the .avi alone, no mkv con., and I get the xvid error now. converting to mkv plays just fine...

... OK, what do you have for renderers in MP Config for the two source types? Should clarify if it's ffdshow (if someone can test with something other than ffdshow for rendering xvids - better yet) or not.

    Re: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

Not related to Moving Pictures anyway. Reverted back to beta 2 and still not able to playback XViD or DivX using SAF.

I got those files playing by uninstalling SAF,
installing the latest FFDShow Tryout (though when closing the audio configuration I get an error),
installing the latest Matroska Splitter (setting it to support .avi)

As I only have the HTPC to test on, I won't be doing much more now that I have these files working, as it's the family PC, and will be in use most of the evening.

I'm running Windows XP MCE with an NVidia 9400 GT.

It seems to me that this is something with a file remnant or registry setting for FFDShow being write protected since the MP RC1 installation.

Edit: My advice is trying to just install the Matroska Splitter and add the .avi support).

I will quote the whole thread...

...you can then see my solution which worked for me.

It might offer some use to others until another solution can be found for those who use the SAF's

I'm just speculating here, but those of you having the recent problems - did you uninstall SAF BEFORE you ran the RC1 install for the new MP release?

No, but after installing MPRC1, i first have uninstalled SAF! Here is another Thread -> Link

    I am back.
All who have problem to play xvid video - did drag and drop it in to graphstudio works?
If yes, then it must be something inside MediaPortal...

Today I wanted to install SAF 4.00RC1 on a new Windows 7!

The downloading message is popping up, but PowerDVD isn't installed anymore!

Do you have problems with your server, hoborg? Or where is the problem?

PS: I now saw in SAF-log, there is an entry with "Decompression failed"....

Do you still have this problem?
